Great TV, Great Price!, 2010-02-27 The TV turned-up well within the estimated delivery date. It's easy to set-up and the picture quality is great. Bought it for my kitchen wall and wasn't sure what size to go for, but at 26" it's perfect!
Good tv to replace old c.r.t., 2010-02-13 Our (not that old) cathode ray tube tv + integral dvd went bad on the picture. Best option - replace with a smart-looking flatscreen rather than repair.
Chose Samsung for value - good reviews & price - did not think full HD necessary for us. Also bought dvd player from Amazon.
Turns out I was right - excellent picture, freeview works fine (better than old Phillips box which lost track repeatedly).
Think 26" was right for our room & furniture, but maybe 32" would have been better. Live with it !
Completely satisfied, 2010-02-19 I was unsure about purchasing a new television as I am not really up to date with technology. However I managed to follow all the instructions very easily and completed the set up very quickly and satisfactorily. I did have to call upon my son to connect my freeview recorder but this was done in a matter of minutes. I am very happy with my new television, it is a wonderful picture and suitable for all my requirements. I would recommend it to anyone.Samsung LE26B450C4 26-inch Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview
worth every penny, 2010-02-19 We've wall mounted ours, it looks fab. Good all round peripheral picture view from all angles. Sound and picture quality very good. I'm no expert but I don't think you can beat it for the price. One minor thing is when we looked at this model in the shops this model was displayed with a headphone socket, although the model number was exactly the same there is no headphone socket on ours. make sure if this is important to you.
Great TV, after a little bit of tweaking, 2010-03-13 I was looking for an LCD tv which wouldn't dominate my whole living room, and bought this one. A few months on, and it's working out great. It's nicely compact and pretty stable on its base (fairly toddler-proof!).
It only has one SCART input, so we still need a multi-scart box to choose between our DVD player and Virgin TV box. It has many HDMI inputs though, and modern DVD players and the newer Virgin HD box use them instead. It has a VGA input too, so you can plug your laptop in, or for mac laptops you can get a mac-to-HDMI cable to do the same. This means you can watch internet iPlayer and similar on your big tv.
When I first got it, I was initially disappointed with the picture quality. Sitting close, I really noticed the 'blocky' effect due to the way DVDs and digital TV are compressed. However, I eventually found out that the TV has various 'picture enhancement settings' switched on by default. This included a 'sharpen image' setting which was just enhancing the blocky effect. Turning all these magic settings off gave a much better picture.
I also found that the picture would get brighter and dimmer at times. There's an 'energy saving' setting which causes this behaviour. Switch it off, and the picture will stay at a steady brightness.
So, after getting the settings right, it's been a great TV and I'm pleased with my purchase.
