Amazon.co.uk Review The big-screen adaptation of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire romance, is aimed squarely at its key demographic: teen girls whose idea of Prince Charming is a brooding, pale, undead teen who could kill you instantly at any moment. Such a prince is more fascinating than frightening to new girl Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who moves to the rainy-gray town of Forks, Wash., to live with her dad (Billy Burke), the local sheriff who's puzzled by a series of "animal attacks." On her first day at school, Bella appears to (visibly) nauseate her lab partner, Edward (Robert Pattinson). Turns out the scent of her blood is this vampire's "brand of heroin," and his struggle not to kill her causes an irresistible pull toward her. Whether he's attracted for the normal reasons or because she smells especially sweet to him is vague in the book and even less clear on-screen; nonetheless, Bella falls hopelessly in love with Edward, which sets her on a dangerous path when a few nomad vampires show up in town, one particularly keen on tracking the human. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen), Twilight is full of funny moments--not all of which are intentional--and the casting, from Stewart to Bella's self-absorbed friend Jessica (Anna Kendrick) is spot-on. The weakest link, unfortunately, is Pattinson. While he certainly looks the part, his Edward could have used an extra injection of testosterone (Pattinson, who is British, used James Dean as a model for his American accent). In scenes where he growls about the temptation to kill those who would harm Bella, or flitting around a forest warning her how dangerous he is, he comes off more like a whimpering puppy than a debonair monster. The good news is, his chemistry with Stewart (particularly in their big kissing scene) is palpable, which, let's face it, is really what matters to Twilight fans most. --Ellen A. Kim

Brilliant!, 2010-07-21 My brother and I watched Twilight last year and loved it. I hadn't read the books at the time and didn't know very much about it as I do now. Kristen Stewart played her role as Bella very well and I think she'll be quite well known for a long time. And what is there to say about Robert Pattinson - he was amazing and shone like a star (he's British by the way). Recommended if you like vampire films.
Loved It!!!, 2010-07-26 This DVD was a reward for a long search. Not living in the UK it is hard to find all the 2-disc special editions for a movie, but Amazon came through. The movie is great and in essence captures the intrigue that the book by author Stephanie Meyer inspires in all who read it. I would really recommend this to all who enjoys the romantic yet subtle nuances the vampire world has to offer. If you are buying this expecting a gory battle filled with blood and guts, then you are looking in the wrong genre my friend, as this is not about the fighting per se, it is about the fight for love amongst two people who are destined for each other, and all the trouble that a form of class distinction can bring into your life, and how as a young adult you can overcome it...
GOOD HORROR/ROMANCE, 2010-07-20 Twilight is a great film! When Bella swan moves from her mum to her dad, she meets Edward Cullen. She soon disvovers his true identity and that leads too three evil vampires tracking her down. Eventually one switches sides and Bella is tricked by the most vicious of the three. She gets into a fight with him and ends up drenched in blood. Then Edward arrives along with his family. Together they all burn him but Bella is contaminated! Edward saves her and they form a strong romance.
Surprisingly Brilliant, 2010-07-20 I haven't read any of the Twilight novels and when the films were first released I didn't fancy watching them as vampires and werewolves are not normally the type of genre that I enjoy. But there has been that much hype over all the movies and books I thought I would give them a go. I am so glad I finally gave in and watched the first two Twilight movies as they are brilliant. I think this movie is slightly better than the second one but don't get me wrong they are both excellent. I will only say the first one is better as I feel it left you in more suspense and I was practically on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next. Even though the two main characters fall in love this movie is nothing like the usual romantic movies, it has a little more of a twist making it very enjoyable to watch. I'm really looking forward to seeing the third Twilight movie as I'm sure it will be just as great as the first two. Whether this is your type of movie or not I would definitely recommend it to anyone as you will not be disappointed.
Twilight dvd, 2010-07-15 being of the little bit older generation was unsure about this film but very good looking forward to watching the other two films
