awesome, 2010-08-15 easy to use and install, took some time getting use to and to remember the shortcut buttons on the tablet, overall an awesome product to use. slim and sleek.
Excellent tablet for the price, responsive and accurate, 2010-08-11 Bought this tablet to replace a Trust TB6300 which had failed.
It knocks the Trust into a cocked hat!
It is responsive, accurate, fast, looks good and is really easy to use.
Very pleased with it.
Read this review if your pen response is slow..., 2010-05-10 I bought this when looking for a reasonably priced tablet which would allow me to do artwork on photoshop. However once i installed the macro key manager etc on vista, my pen kept slowing down everytime i made a sudden movement, or when i did a shortcut using my keyboard or the touch keys on the tablet. Now i was told drivers might sort this, but it was infact my AVG which was the problem - and thanks to a review on here i found later, i just took AVG off and it worked fine. So this review is mainly to anyone who is having the same problem and like me, was going nuts thinking that this tablet was a waste of time and money, when in fact it is very much worth the £60.
There are so many reviews on here already saying how good it is, so i'll try to concentrate on other aspects such as the macro keys. Obviously you can assign them to all different functions so when you're in photoshop you can use that specific profile and press the little rectangles to activate the key. My main gripe with this is that you can't do such things as holding the space bar and moving your pen to move the screen (which would need to be done often if you creating artwork). Because there arn't buttons, you have to press the box with your pen and then move the screen and then go back to your brush. A bit awkward, but still...29 keys that can be assigned to all sorts of different shortcuts and programs is still benificial. I'll probably use my keyboard for shortcuts like this anyway.
Thats my main gripe with it, but for £60 theres sod all to complain about to be honest. I use a wacom Intuos at college and thats about £200. The Aiptek here, costs £60 and has around an A4 drawing area, which is big considering the price - plus it's paper thin. I haven't tried the bamboo, but this has a bigger drawing area and better pen pressure so i would probably advise this (although bamboo does have 4 buttons i think).
One more little thing, the tablet comes with other software etc but something that is kind of handy, depending on your situation, is a tool which allows you use the pen to write, rather than type. Obviously the recognition sometimes is a bit naff, but if you happen to be in my circumstance where you have a laptop and connect to your TV with HDMI, then you can use it to write when you save your work and search the web etc. I'll prbably end up getting a wireless keyboard anyway but its still a nice little addition.
All in all, great value and a great product, even if i was furious that i couldn't get it to work for ages because of AVG...
Excellent Investment, 2010-07-12 I bought the SlimTablet because I do alot of outline tracing and outline creating work in Photoshop previously with a mouse. The tablet proved invaluable freeing my hand so it is like drawing rather than 'pushing' the mouse enabling me to follow and create outlines easily. It was very easy to install and worked straight away. Once you get used to the action required to use it, which in itself is very easy, it is a joy to use. It is very responsive and glides easily over the surface.
I haven't used many of the hot keys but I am sure they would be a very useful additional feature if required.
At this price I really can't fault this product.
Great with my Dual Screen setup!, 2010-08-22 Pretty much all cheap graphics tablets are small, and the bigger ones are really expensive. Then I found this one! It's a 10" by 6" graphics tablet, pretty much the same size as A4 paper. Which made it great for drawing with photoshop (my intended use). Unfortunately the drivers lose a star to the product. While it is plug and play, Windows 7 installed some basic drivers with no pressure sensitivity. And the Official drivers supplied on the disk made the tablet span across both my screens (i run 2 screens on my PC) which is bad, as photoshop is only used on one of my screen, meaning I could only use half of my tablet area!
This is fixed if you edit a few lines of the drivers though. Which unlocks a new tab in the Pads control panel allowing you to map screen area.
1. extract the drivers from the CD to a folder on your PC
2. Open aiptbl.ini in notepad and change the line "AdjustPage=0" to "AdjustPage=1"
3. run the setup.exe from the folder on your PC and it'll automatically install the fixed drivers
4. in PenPad utility theres now a tab called "Control" allowing you to modify area settings
The product itself is 5/5
its got a great size, great slimness, great accuracy, and the sensitivity is awesome.
To the reviewer who opposed other reviewers saying the surface is like glass.
I believe what they mean is its like frosted glass. I currently have a frosted glass mouse mat that I use for gaming. Its smooth enough to slide easily over. But doesn't have a shiny surface due to optical mice will not work on them.
I agree that this graphics tablet is JUST like a frosted glass mouse mat. And since reading those comments, now use my tablet as a mouse mat! :D
