Product Description
The Apple Portable MagSafe Power Adapter features the MagSafe Connector - a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel. Oredered this for my girlfriend. expensive for what it is. I would have got the non branded equivalent as you pay half the price but she wanted this. not worth the money but works perfectly.

First suprise was that this is a third party charger not an official apple one, but it seems to work just as well as the offical one. Its not exactly the same size, and so is slightly ill fitting on my original extension lead but it works well and is safe. Hopefully itll last too!
Third one in three years, 2010-05-08
I got a MacBook Pro three years ago. I'm now on my third replacement magsafe. Same problem each time - cord either burns out or breaks just where it connects to the computer. Last time I took special care not to strain it and still only got over a year out of it. Bad show Apple - fix this please!!!
Weak Design, 2009-10-06
Well of course it works fine but it really annoys me that I've had to buy an entire replacement unit after three years just because the flex is so weak. Countless other users have complained about this to Apple. It's shameful that an otherwise perfectly serviceable piece of equipment is going to landfill due to a poorly designed cable. What's more, the new one is exactly the same. So I expect I'll be doing this all over again in 2011.
