Comment: At last Disney's first really great cartoon creation comes home to Disney. Unfortunately Universal don't have as much respect for their heritage as do Walt's men and what we have has been ravaged (perhaps too strong a word in retrospect) by time, neglect and the desire in the '30s to rejig and reissue...not always with the same care that went into making the original shorts. But what reason had anyone in the '30s to think that we would revere their bread and butter stuff as historic artifacts 70 years on? Like the silent movies left to rot in their cans, these cartoons got yanked about to make something almost "new".

But, half a loaf is better than no bread and these are certainly worthy of your dough. (Or should that be "doe" given Ozzie's species?)

One aspect of Oswald that jars a bit to modern eyes is his propensity to remove his foot so he can rub it for luck... it's a bit more eewww than when Felix did it... and it didn't take Mickey long to outgrow the ability to raise ears and the top of his head like a cap....

Still I don't regret splashing out here. The quality is better than YouTube and there is more to see.....
And Disney DVD production values are as good as ever. What there is, is presented superbly.
