not complete - still a classic series though, 2007-10-08 I echo what Scarterhill "Scotty" says about the disappointment in this release containing only 6 episodes.
I've been waiting ages for this to get a region 2 release only to find out it's being release piecemeal style.
better off checking out His Master's Voice for complete region 2 or importing region 1 (which is cheaper)
so 5 stars for the series, one for the release (giving a 3 out of 5 average)
what a piss take !, 2007-10-30 Wright and Scotty thanks for your comments.
Just as with two, I had been hoping that this series would be released in R2, and was very dissapointed to see that it is being done so piecemeal. What a rip off!
Anyway, fortunately I read your comments - 'Music to my ears' should I say? Headed straight over to HMV and have bought the entire collection from them.
RESULT!
Once again, thanks for the tip.
There is a region 2 version!, 2007-10-12 Hey all, look at hmv.co.uk and you can buy the complete collection in a 5 disc boxset all region 2! Its exclusive to them!
Complete Box Sets, 2007-10-31 The same goes for Region 2 Hong Kong Phooey. Get the Complete Box Set from the well known high street music/DVD shop or their online store as it will of course be cheaper. It's exclusive to them at the moment. No doubt these box sets will be generally available but not for a while. I only give it One star because of the way these are packaged. The content however is a true Hannah Barbera cartoon classic which gets 4 stars. The top Five stars goes to Wacky Races in my book.
adult version and family version!, 2007-10-28 I notice that other sellers are listing two versions of this Volume 1 set. One is described as an 'adult version' and the other, in different coloured packaging is described as the 'family version'. Anyone know what the differences are? I'm guessing that the family version is a horribly edited ultra-pc cut with all Top Cat's wrong-doings - such as smoking and making fun of officer Dibble- removed.
I've rated 3 stars becasue it's a great vintage animated series but it's wrong to release an edited version and so few episodes for such a high price.
