A step backwards, 2008-05-12
This is a stylish looking easy to use player I have bough 4 other players of various memory sizes for presents etc. with the others I had been over the moon but to say the least I was some what disappointed that this player does not read Atrac like the others. Not a great problem only that I was unable to get as many high quality recordings on it. Also with the earlier models you had a program called image convertor which had no problem in transferring all my avi's I had recorded on my camera on to it, the choice of formats for this model seems a bit limited.
I do understand that a lot of people had issues with Sonic Stage the programe that was with the earlier model I had had a few myself but Sonic stage 4.3 had worked fine for me.
I do regret not reading the small print more closely and noticing that it was a pure mp3 player however that does not stop it from being a nice piece of kit

I have had several mp3 players in the past, this product is quality, the sound and earphones are phonomenal. The whole package just eeks with Sony class. Stay away from Samsung etc this is the product to buy, absolute quality
Why bother with an iPod?, 2008-12-31
The Sony product looks good, sounds good, is well made and is a doddle to use.
In addition, you just plug it in with a USB cable and it presents itself as a mass storage device to drag and drop to: as it should be.
So no proprietary software needed (unlike iPod/iTunes)!
The video format is MP4 so using something like Nero Recode you can convert and scale any film or video clip for the screen and memory size (I just use the PSP setting in Nero).
The only real downside is the charger is USB only but then again as it is only 2gb I'd imagine it's going to be getting attached to a PC quite frequently.
As with most portable devices the rechargeable battery is integrated, so obsolescence comes as standard.

went for this because its sony, got an ipod nano too but has nothing on it compared to this in terms of sound quality & bass, good quality product from sony once again (jus lacks an fm tuner)
