I bought this as a compact occassional use cd / dab player for the bedroom, but have been so incredibly impressed with it that I have it in my sitting room! From the moment I took it out of the box, the quality just spoke volumes. Plug it in and it automatically knows the time abd the date! Brilliant search on the DAB, nothing you cant get (and I live in Devon). I have not heard any hum that others mention. The only drawback I would say is that the sound quality is very slightly tinny, but that is down to its tiny compact size. Very impressed with this, excellent quality at a very good price. I would definitely buy more Pure products.

I would give an excellent report on this product. The sound effect is perfect considering the size of the unit and the radio reception in top quality.

1) The sound from this product is somewhat tinny.
2) Build quality is poor - especially the plastic cd compartment lid and the skewy alignment of speaker grilles.
3) Design is poor - e.g. light from screen backlight leaks out through edges of buttons. Also, layout of button labels is absolutely not thought through - label is halfway between button above and button below so one always needs to think about which button a label applies to. Also the remote controller (no that magnetic pad does not adhere properly to the controller) doesn't allow one to change radio channel!

A tip to Pure: to avoid turning formerly loyal customers such as myself into detractors, lend the prototype to focus-group users before going into production. This product was not ready for production.

I may be slightly biased as my chronos CD no longer works after just over 12 months. That is pretty poor.
The main problem with this product is the buttons on the front. If you try to operate this machine from your bed by stretching an arm out to your bedside table, pushing buttons at the front ends up pushing the player away from you as the buttons are stiff.

I bought this for use in the kitchen. I wanted something small but stylish that would provide good quality radio and CD output. Well it ticks all the boxes. Although it is for use in the kichen I have set the alarm to switch the radio on at various times during the day on the same principal as automatic timer lights, should I be late home from work etc. I haven't noticed any hum but then the fridge and boiler are both running in the kitchen, I would recommend this unit to anybody who would like good quailty in a small unit for a reasonable price.
