4 in 1..., 2008-11-12 This printer is very nice. A very good scanning and copying function, with a very thorough set-up process. The printer is very quick and efficient with good ease of use with just the press of a button. The printer also has a fax function but I have never bothered to set that up. The only problem I do have with it though is that it uses quite a bit of ink, and the ink isn't cheap. For the price it is at now is very reasonable; it is of very good build, and looks expensive. The unit itself though is quite large and takes up a bit of room. It does also need a USB cable but they are a few pounds also on amazon!
Excellent printer and fax for the money, 2008-12-11 This is in use in a small office. For the money it provides a very good printing and fax solution. Fax is not often used these days but is handy at times for receiving information from those who insist on fax rather than email, and occasional fax sending.
The print quality is very good on the standard setting, but the faster setting starts to get a bit too vague for anything other than simple draft/working documents. Print speed is acceptable.
The fax element works fine and doesn't interfere with your phone (as mentioned in some reviews) provided that it is connected up properly - i.e. as shown in the manual and not on a splitter - the Pixma has to be connected directly to the phone socket, and then the phone connected to the Pixma socket - to do this you need an RJ11 cable to link your phone to the Pixma (not supplied), but you will probably find that you have one lying around somewhere. It will then happily operate in Phone Priority mode.
All in all, great value for money.
Canon Pixma MX310,, 2008-04-18 I use this printer working from home for general printing, scanning and copying. I have a separate printer for photo printing. For small business use its pretty good. It replaced a Hp office jet J5780 which went in the bin after the scanner gave up and the software fixes rubbished my laptop. The Cannon is better alround. Quick printing, good software interface. Only 4 starsbecause strangely the copy button is on the left of the panel and the colour/black and white select button is on the far right. Can not comment about the ink use/cost. I suspect it will be about the same as its competitors, grossly expensive, but thats why the printer is realitively cheap.
