One of the few who is capable of "reading" what they are buying, 2008-04-01
First of amazing film, watched it like once a week as a kid and its still good. Great 80's music and all teh best Transformers in a film thats actually well done.

By the way all the people who rated this film 1 star are merely rating their own intelligence because they were unable to read a description "A classic of 1980's animation" or look at a picture (the big cover) with "1986" next to it. Sounds harsh but if your going to mark a film down for your in-ability to read then you deserve everything you get.

Better than it was before, 2008-05-14
Very very good bluray transfer, the spot colours in the animation look great. Only problem with it is the scratches on the source material which are very difficult to remove anyway but as most of the film is in space you cant really see it anyway.
Story is the same as it always was, great transfer. POOR extras = none.

Definitely worth buying though :D

The anime had a much better storyline, character development, action and music.

I haven't actually seen this on bluray however was bought the original on vhs when i was about seven years old and have fond memorys of watching it. I feel that this DVD has an unfair rating being that most people have rated their frustration at buying this thinking it was the newer 2007 film, hence have given it five stars to boost it back up to where I believe it should be. If the title was misleading then fair enough but I would have thought the fact that it states that it is the 1986 release and the cover should be recognised as the cartoon version.
So if anyone were to buy this as a mistake then complain to amazon or the seller instead of making yourself look like a right idiot in this public domain and ruining a films rating. Ratings should reflect both the quality of the movie and in this case the conversion onto bluray not the fact that you have egg on your face because you bought this dvd in haste!.

This is clearly stated on the item description page...how could people miss that? No mention of Michael Bay or Megan Fox there...
