Product Description Wacom has reinvented the stylus for the 21st century. The Bamboo tablet is a stylus tablet that lets you write freely, make notes by hand, and browse through your computer applications. Bamboo can be used with an almost unlimited number of applications: from taking simple notes on a document to more sophisticated applications such as photo retouching. Bamboo is compatible with with the Microsoft Vista operating system, Office 2007, and Mac OS, offering a new interactive approach to your computer. Bamboo offers an easier and more intuitive ways of searching for information or creating documents with more impact. When using Bamboo with Microsoft Office, a new personal style of communication becomes possible, including e-mail customisation with digital signatures, or the addition of sketches and scribbles! Plus, by choosing a stylus or a highlighter tool in Microsoft Word, Bamboo lets you take notes on the fly, create sketches or highlight documents, spreadsheets or slideshow presentations. Bamboo was designed with improved features: it includes programmable ExpressKeys that replace the most-used commands such as cut or paste. Bamboo also has a new creation feature, the Touch Ring, that facilitates forward and rear zoom as well as scrolling. The tablet is equipped with blue backlighting that lets you access the most common features more easily. Bamboo is for PC and Mac users who are not graphics creation specialists and who would like to use these tools at home or at the office.

A Tablet That Exceeds Expectations, 2008-07-24 When you buy a tablet for £35 and change you expect it to work but you don't really expect something quite as capable as this one.
It works brilliantly on Ubuntu Linux 8.04 and I'm finding using the gimp has never been easier. The pad size bothered me before purchasing but it is more than adequate in the majority of situations.
This may not be the most sensitive tablet - in comparison with higher priced wacom tablets - but so far I've found it more than adequate, though I have tuned the sensitivity curve to fit my style of drawing.
It need this config for Ubuntu Hardy Heron: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=765915 but should work automatically by 8.10 (once the linuxwacom version catches up).
I've already recommended this tablet to someone else and am likely to recommend it again.
Trial only software, 2008-04-13 Great item but expensive as just a cursor controller. If you want to use it as a graphics tool which is what it is really good for you need to purchase the JustWrite software extra, since the Bamboo only comes with a trial version !!!
Even the cheapest digi cameras come with free photo editing software
Best alternative to the mouse for RSI avoidance, 2008-08-04 I got this tablet not for drawing, signing, or commenting. The primary reason was because the use of the computer mouse was staining my hand and arm. I heard about this alternative while visiting a university in which an ergonomic specialist prescribed these tablets for everyone as an alternative to the mouse. Since I started using Bamboo, I no longer have strain problems with my arm.
If you experience, or fear experiencing, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), this is a great tool.
Stylish and easy to use, 2008-10-15 This is my first graphics tablet and I can thoroughly recommend it. Very easy to install and very easy to use. In fact, whilst I was going through the instructions, I actually realised that I was already using the pen to control the mouse clicks and scroll - very intuitive! The tablet comes with an installation disk, a pen and holder, plus the USB cable from the PC to the tablet (the pen seems to work without battery or cable - magic? More likely magnetic)
The tablet area maps directly to your screen, so top left of the screen is top left of the tablet, etc. So none of this moving your mouse down over and over again to scroll, although you can switch to "mouse mode" if you wish. Note, it works with multiple monitors too and configures itself depending on how your monitors are set up. Again, you can customise this though.
There are 4 programmable keys to mimic a number of various options such as forward, back, pan, click etc. There is also a "touch ring" dial which you can use to zoom for supported applications.
The wireless pen itself has 2 pen buttons which can be programmed, plus a rubber, although I think I miss this running under XP. Certainly the support seems better under Vista, with some text recognition possible (so say the ad's)
The tablet itself looks great - 4 nice little blue lights light up next to the function keys. User manual too is great, explaining all the customisations.
All in all, a great product and, for the price, almost a must buy!
Good, but there are other options, 2008-05-27 although this is a good piece of gear, if you are going for quality on a budget, there are some very cheap tablets that are just as good
i have one from Trust, which is perfect for me as a designer...
