Good but not great, 2008-09-26
Originally I bought the InMotion iM500 but decided to send it back because the sound was too tinny and distorts at high volume. This model is good if you're looking for a speaker system that's portable and wish to use it ad hoc (i.e. on holidays). I bought it for our fair size kitchen and found that the depth and warmth to the sound was not great. After visiting the Apple store I decided on the newer Altec T612 and have to say the quality is far superior. Possibly because on the T612 there's the option to increase/decrease the bass and treble - Go for the T612 - the extra £40 is worth it.

I am very pleased with this product. I bought it specifically to give me music at our holiday home so that we would not have to take down CD's when staying there.
The room it is used in is fairly small (4.5m by 4m)and the Altec is ideal for this. The reproduction although clearly not Hi Fi is perfectly adequate for this room and given the size of the unit is excellent.There is more than enough volume even for a slightly deaf over 60!
The FM radio is rather disappointing as the sound quality is dependent on the aerial. The presets work well but I would prefer a DAB radio. However given the lack of digital radio ( I will have to wait until August 2009 when I can get the radio via my TV)it is adequate.
All in all a very good product for my use.

This was my first purchase of an mp3 and the above docking station came highly recommended. Like previous reviews battery life and sound 5 stars, however after a couple of months use the fitting becomes loose and the ipod flops onto the speakers, with no sound emitting. I have rectified this with packing apart from this disappointment, a good purchase.
Problem with on/off button, 2008-11-17
I purchased this just over 12 months ago & was initially pleased with it. Good sound quality & a very neat docking station. For the last few months, the on/off button has been temperamental to say the least. It might work one day but not the next. Extremely frustrating & no longer under guarantee! So I will be purchasing a different brand in the near future.

I recently purchased this from Amazon and I have found it to be a great product. I love the ability to take it outside to listen to my i-pod in the garden with the great battery life. I also find the sound more than acceptable for the price.
