Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5 A Good Keyboard for Beginners, 2008-12-31
Around four months ago, I got this keyboard for my birthday. Firstly I will point out the positives: 1. this keyboard is very good for the complete beginner who has no sheet music/music books at home as this keyboard has the YES5 (the Yamaha Education Suite No.5). This easy to use feature lets you learn songs which are built in to the keyboard. The screen display on the keyboard shows you which notes and keys to play and the timing feature tells you WHEN to play them. 2. Another good feature is the screen. This screen shows what notes and keys you are playing simultaneously to make it easier to understand the notes and also, when using the auto-accompaniment, shows you which chords you are playing. 3. The Yamaha YPT 200 has a lot of functions such as Sustain - this feature provides a continuous sustain sound. Tuning - which lets you tune your keyboard. Transpose - This lets you transpose all the notes on the keyboard by 12 semi-tones. And there are loads more features. 4. This keyboard has loads and loads (134) sounds incorporated into it. Some of them are very good. 5. Another good point is that the buttons are easy to use. 6. The instructions are very easy to use and well explained in the main languages so make sure you take a look at them before jumping onto the product without reading anything.
Now I will explain and point out some of the bad points: 1. It is a shame that this keyboard is not touch sensitive (that means that no matter how hard or soft you press on the key, the tone will always be the same). 2. This is a small criticism however, I am sure that some people prefer box keys as they add a more realistic feel to the keyboard but this product only costs around £80. 3. Although that I mentioned that some of the sounds are good, I personally think there are too many sounds/voices in this piano - a lot of them will probably only be used once or twice however, that is just my opinion.
Finally, a question that a lot of people seem to ask is "are 61 keys enough?" - well if you are a beginner then yes but if you are already quite good at piano and taking serious lessons than I think you would need to opt for a 76/88 key piano.
This keyboard also has MIDI connection and a headphone socket. ***NOTE!!!!!! *** that this keyboard DOES have a adaptor cable although for some reason on the box it says it doesn't.
Overall, this is a good buy for a beginner or for someone who wants a good piano sound and to practice playing piano or just have fun with all the features that this instrument provides. :)

The description of this item says that it doesn't have a power supply, but it DOES! Don't waste £7 on another adapter like me!

Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5 Excellent!! Not a substitue for piano, but not a toy either..., 2008-12-05
The keyboard is not a substitute to piano. But it is not a toy either. It is an ideal instrument for daily practice. I bought it for my daughter who is a beginner in piano. I didn't want to spend on piano right now, but wanted something for her to practice her lessons. The digital display is cool, it shows the note you are playing. Worth the money.

Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5 Excellent product but shame no adaptor .........., 2008-12-25
I chose this product after carefully reading other reviews, I am glad I ordered it for my son who is just started learning Piano but I am myself hooked onto this product. Unfortunately there is no adaptor in the box even though other reviews and product information clearly indicate that adaptor is included. So its my own fault for following the reviews blindly. I have no regret buying the product but shame that i have used all my batteries over Christmas period whilst playing on it.
