A Failure, 2007-08-08 It would be a great modem if it worked. I needed this for my Linksys VPN router, but Netgear made a real mess of this product - it trys to do too much automatically and wouldn't even let me enter my IP address. It then crashed my computer and refused to connect to any of my computers afterwards. If it were like the modem which is built into their RangeMax Wireless router it would be great. A real shame - its hard to find ADSL2+ Ethernet modems aswell - I may have to settle for a Modem/Router which can forward ports to my VPN router.
Excellent little modem, 2007-11-13 I'll keep this short and sweet. I wanted an ethernet modem to stick in front of my router so, having had some good experiences with Netgear in the past, I picked the DM111P.
Configuring the unit was easy (via the standard web interface) as was uploading the latest firmware to the modem. All in all - a 5 minute job.
The modem has a fair amount of statistical information (line stats etc) although, as you would expect, you won't be able to get to this when it's the wrong side of a router WAN port.
The unit is smaller than I thought it would be and comes with a nice set of clip on legs which allow it to be stood up on its side. The pack includes all the things you would expect - including frequency splitter and ethernet cable etc..
I've read a few criticisms that this equipment runs hot. Although this is true - it's no hotter than any other unit I have running on my desk. So far, the connection has been extremely stable. I can't ask for more than that really.
Netgear DM111P, 2008-10-04 Purchased a new computer with vista which my old modem did not have drivers for. Netgear comes with no written instructions, just a CD Rom wizzard which failed to work with Vista. After several days of frustration I established the problem was that the Netgear box would not connect with my IP provider. I needed a couple of IT expert colleagues to finally get me running. Now its working, its fantastic, however, 3 stars for the set up nightmare.
