Well worth the money, 2008-12-19 Bought this as a present for family, and I have to say they love it. Quite big, and comes with lots of attachments, but its excellent.
To buy or not to buy - I say choose carefully before you do, 2008-02-19 I purchased this item a few months ago. The quality is pretty average. After having it for a week, I dropped the main bowl a few inches onto the kitchen surface and the plastic flange which slots into the base unit chipped off. Although it still worked, I did not expect that to happen so easily.
I agree with the other comments that the storage unit is pretty much useless. I found that the shredding discs do not fit greatly with the bowl and gave average results. Furthermore, I was creaming some butter and sugar when one of the whisks simply snapped off leaving the plastic base stuck in the mechanism. You are better off using a cheap electric whisk (£4-5) or hand whisk to do the job properly. As this is clearly not the cheapest food processor on the market I would not purchase it again. I would either spend a bit more on something designed to last or much less as I do not believe that this food processor will be with me more than a couple of years. In my view the quality is fairly average and I have been overall, rather disappointed.
Great for the price and range of attachments, 2007-10-12 I spent quite a bit of time wondering whether I should just get a cheap processor or whether to go all the way and get a Magimix. In the end after looking for something that had a large bowl AND a blender AND a mill AND where all the attachments are operated from one base unit, this was the only one which fit the bill.
My budget was about £120, so I was happy to get this for £85.
Pluses: works very well, easy enough to clean, loads of attachments (more than i know what to do with), base unit easy to store
Minuses: Build quality of the base unit is a bit plasticky
All in all I'm quite pleased with it, it's not quite Magimix standard, but at that price and for the extras, who's complaining!
AVOID, 2007-11-22 I was pleased that Kenwood brought out the innovation of one base unit for liquidser and food processor, saves on space. What a disappointment....
The storage facility gives the impression it stores the accesories, it only stores less than 1/3 of these!
It comes with a juicer, citrus press grinding mill, most of which I would not use. These extra bits really do load up the extra accesories.
Took me 3 hours to sort everything and read the instructions fully. I then discovered that the base for the liquidiser and the grinding mill were identical and whichever one I used, they both leaked on the liquidiser.
This item is far too complicated for most people's needs.
The finale...contacted Kenwood support helpline. They close 12.30 on Fridays until Monday morning. So then sent e mail which was ignored. Did eventually get to speak to human who said she would get back to me, never did. So finally e mailed chief executive and customer support again...10 days ago and no response. Just had full refund from shop. Kenwood don't appear to care about their reputation, or their customers any longer.
