Product Description
GUPI is a robotised guinea pig that looks and feels like a real one. GUPI is highly autonomous, he walks around in the house, without bumping into anything thanks to gupi's sensors in its eyes, or falling of the table of the stairs with the help of sensors at his legs. GUPI is so smart he can also walk through a maze and you can be assured that he will find a way out. You'll see different types of GUPI on the Internet, and GUPI Version 3 is the latest and greatest GUPI. The main differences between GUPI Version 2 and GUPI version 3 are Higher capacity battery Enhanced Manual which recommends a 12 hour charge for first time usage Bug fixes to the controller chip 3 Pin Mains Charger Packaging redesigned GUPI has a very interactive playing behaviour, if you don't play with him he becomes lonely and scared and he will go hiding in a dark place. But if you caress him he will feel loved, and he will be happy. GUPI can also hear you, and he will react to voices and sounds, depending on his mood ..... When GUPI is happy he will actually come running at you when you call him, but when he's scared he can't stand noise and will run away from it. When happy GUPI will also follow a light beam so you can lead him wherever you want him to go. When GUPI gets hungry you can feed him (read : recharge his reloadable batteries) through a little carrot, and he's ready for a lot more fun together with his friends. As such GUPI creates the Tamagochi binding-effect. Gupi has a unique identification codes in the chipsets, therefore, when other Gupis are in the vicinity, they will express excited behaviour and they will learn gradually how to accept each other, how to share food (battery re-loader), and how to play with each other. This is version 3 of Gupi! Features Sensors So what can

hi there, we decided on gupi when we searched for an interactive dog for my 4 yr old, a very loving little boy who has loved all his teddies to death, we were a little put off by the price but after reading the reviews we ordered one and i have to say gupi stole the show for christmas day, my son was able to operate him self, feeding her, putting her to sleep and chasing the carrot(the little noises she makes are very sweet and during christmas lunch the adults did question why were talking in hushed voices as my son had just got her to sleep!!, my other sons 8 and 13 were having a go which seperated them from their x box and wii for a little while, the cat was a bit suprised!!! the only thing that i didnt like was having to charge her for 12 hours before playing, but i should have thought of that!! before christmas morning. a great pressy

We brought two Gupis for the children this Christmas. Both arrived but one did not work and will have to be returned.

The other Gupi works and is reasonably entertaining - for so long as the charge lasts. Having followed the instructions and left it plugged in for 12 hours to condition the battery, the best working time has only ever been 20 minutes. After which it has to be plugged in for another hour. The one working toy is also tempremental and needs to be switched on and off in order to function.

My verdict is that this is an overpriced and unreliable toy that is likley to disappoint children. I have no faith that the one Gupi which is currently working will last for long given the poor quality of its build. Engineering students will have great fun effecting repairs; Mums and Dads will pull their hair out. You have been warned.

We bought two gupis for our children's Christmas presents, and had similar problems to those mentioned by other reviewers. Neither worked properly - one wouldn't charge at all, and the other only ever managed to walk around in circles a few times before also "dying". When we checked the instructions, and tried to get info. online, we realized that we'd been sent the "old" version 2 gupis, not the V.3.0 ones - although we'd ordered the latter.

Amazon were good at sorting this out, as it was over 2 months since I'd originally bought them (being over-organized for Christmas!) and sent replacements. Both of these worked well for a few days - and yes, they are quite cute and entertaining when working properly - but one of these has since completely died, and the other is now becoming more and more temperamental about charging, and has needed several "hard resets".

I have to say, my children still like them even when they're not working, so we've decided not to send the 3rd non-functioning one back: but it's a lot of money for what's become a completely non-interactive cuddly toy! Given that we've now had 4 of these things in the house, and only 1 has worked - not all that reliably - I think it's a fair conclusion that they must be very badly made. I really wouldn't recommend them as children's presents.

Gupi V3.0 Interactive Guinea PigI have just ordered another replacement Gupi, it will be the third since Christmas. The first arrived DOA, it wouldnt gulp and therefore wouldnt charge, so I sent it back and got another (not great for an xmas present).

The second one arrived today and we put it on charge again, no gulp but we thought we would wait and see, after 30 mins, a loud pop and smoke started pouring from it's bum. The casing melted, lovely smell of burning Gupi - the batteries had exploded. Now we only use the charger provided and followed instructions so another one bites the dust.

I hope exploding Gupi's are reported by Amazon as a hazard!

My daughter really wants this so I am giving it a final chance, third time lucky and if that one fails then forget it I will find something else for her and cope with the tears...

First of all, the rating system doesn't appear to accept no stars so I have had to give this product one star which is laughable for something (actually things) which just don't work. We bought two Gupis as Xmas presents for our kids. First thing we discovered was that one of the chargers didn't work (it had no inspection sticker on it unlike the other) but what the heck - we had another one so no real problem. Both Gupis reacted as per the instructions when the carrot charger was inserted and one of the plucky little fellas even managed to walk round the floor for a few minutes on Christmas Day but that was as far as it went. After that they seemed to lose interest in life. Charging up would elicit a few giggles and sleeping sounds but as soon as they were removed from the juice they were stone cold dead. Yes we switched on and off and cuddled and all the stuff the (badly written) instructions tell you to do. Don't bother with the 'website'. Yes, I know you can buy a dodgy toy from anywhere but what is the probability of getting TWO that don't work (plus one faulty charger)? Only manufacturers who have completely lost control of quality can supply that level of rubbish. We are returning them and no we won't be asking for replacements. Money back or nothing on this one Amazon.
