Disaster!! Don't buy., 2008-09-13 We bought this a year ago and it has been a massive disappointment. We have just tried to mix bread dough and it has now shredded the plastic drive shaft and ruined the whole thing. It is supposed to adjust its' speed to suit the mixture - doesn't happen. It is big, bulky and heavy. The way the various bowls need to fit together to use them, you end up washing up about 10 bowls and bits every time your use it for the smallest task. The manual is not helpful in explaining how to use the attachments (just pictures). Don't buy this. It is a waste of money.
Fantastic Product!, 2008-07-03 I love to cook and do so regularly. Having owned my fair share of food processors in the past this one outperforms them in in design, power and the fact that it is incredibly quiet considering the size of the motor is a big bonus.
It is VERY heavy but I actually like that as it doesn't feel flimsy and cheap. The extra bowls are fantastic and they all fit into one another so it doesn't take up so much space on the worktop although it does make it taller than most processors so it might not fit under your cabinets.
You wouldn't want to put it away though as it looks gorgeous!
I would recommend it to anyone that cooks regularly as it is quite expensive and you have to be a regular cook to appreciate that.
I think it is worth every penny.
Warning! There is no parmesan disc!, 2008-02-26 If you are thinking of buying this, please be aware that it is not accurately described on the Amazon website (at least at time of writing, with a bit of luck they'll correct it soon). The Amazon website says that it comes with a parmesan disc, but it doesn't. I discovered this after buying it and even after being sent a replacement. If you look at the description on the Magimix website you'll see that it isn't even supposed to come with one. As I use a food processor mostly for grating parmesan, this was a bit annoying.
Now to be fair, Amazon customer services were quite good about sorting this out, and after sending a second box that also lacked a parmesan disc, agreed to refund me the cost of a parmesan disc so that I could buy one elsewhere as an accesssory. So I'm happy now.
Anyway, back to the product itself, I've only got it recently so can't give a detailed review, but a couple of points immediately spring to mind. First, it is far more quiet than I would have expected, especially given what a complete beast of a motor it has. Very pleasing.
Second, it comes with a neat little box for storing the accessories, which is almost a nice touch, but could have been better designed. It has 4 slots for holding the discs, but it comes with 5 discs. The 5th disc can be made to squeeze in, but it's not very elegant. I'm not sure where I'm going to put my parmesan disc when that arrives.
One disadvantage is that the unit is quite tall and therefore is difficult to put away in a cupboard unless you have a lot of space between the shelves in your cupboard.
It clearly feels well made, and it's pretty obvious that it's a quality piece of kit. Sure, it's expensive, but as with most things you get what you pay for. I think I'm going to be happy with it.
