Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5 Compilation of some of his good tracks., 2007-03-21
It is definetaly worth buying but if you already posses some of his albums you would find that most of these songs are taken from previous albums and some are remakes of songs from previous albums. Includes a lot of classics such as Black WOman and CHild, Beautiful Day, Give me a try (not very good remake original is better) and smoke marijuana. I recommend this to all the sizzla fans.

This was the first Sizzla album I brought and now its my favourite cd. Every song is good, you dont have to skip at all just sit back and let it play. Since this purchase I have brought 9 other Sizzla cd's, it impressed me that much. My personal favourite tracks are 'break free' & 'beautiful day'.
You should deffinatly buy this, you wont be dissapointed!

The long awaited collaboration between Sizzla and Damon Dash has resulted in a very solid album geared for the lucrative US market and features reproductions of 5 songs (Solid as a rock, Give me a try, Black Woman & Child, Thank you Mama and Just One of those Days) although only Solid as a rock gives the original a real run for its money and the original Give me a try probably would have fitted better with this album given its blend of hip hop/r'n'b infused reggae sound.

The opener "Take myself Away" is a nice introduction to the album with its laidback "West Coast" hip hop sound and Sizzla's stratospheric falsetto. "Break Free" is a nice feel good tune with an upbeat Rocksteady riddim and conscious lyrics. The next tune "Pay to Learn" is a stunning conscious tune with its uplifting Garveyite message of self reliance and positivity and another great falsetto highlight in the second verse to underline the emotional intensity of the lyrics. However, the album's highlight is undoubtedly "Beautiful Day". A great rolling guitar driven tune with a deep groove bassline and probably one of Sizzla's best conscious tunes to date with its message of hope and perseverance in adversity enscapsulated in the lyric "when tings don't work out right, just keep the goals in sight". "Cost of Living" is another very good track, which features Sizzla rapping against a beautiful sonic background of Spanish guitars, which open out to stunning effect in the chorus. Of course, this album would not be complete without the ode to marijuana. Simply called "Smoke Marijuana", the song itself has a nice laidback one drop riddim and references various varieties of the herb!

All in all a very solid album, ruined only slightly by the presence of the remixed title track featuring Curtains, a hip hop group. Their unnecessary swearing plus the failure to relay Sizzla's vocals to match the harsher sounding remix smacked of laziness. It would have been a lot better to have featured someone like Snoop Dogg or even Method Man on "Smoke Marijuana" instead.
