When a corrupt ruler summons the power of an outcast god, it will take a band of heroes to save Elona from the creeping darkness infecting the land. In this third campaign in the award-winning Guild Wars universe, Guild Wars Nightfall is an intimate, heroic experience that will enrapture new and existing players alike! Every Hero has a unique tale to tell. Player actions will result in dramatic consequences. Your party becomes an extension of your character. This is Guild Wars like you`ve never seen before.

  • Nightfall is a new stand alone campaign - there is no need to buy the 2 previous campaigns to play
  • As for Factions, this new world will be connected to Tyria and Cantha and players (who already own GW prophecies and/or Factions) will be able to bring their high level characters from other campaigns to this new part of the GW world
  • Elona.
  • Customizable Heroes (party NPCs) that level up with the player
  • Follow player instructions in combat, and use armor, weapons, and skills at the player`s discretion.
  • A new game type, Hero vs. Hero Battles will allow a single player to participate in PvP with Hero NPCs.
  • 2 new professions: The Dervish, a scythe-wielding holy warrior, and the Paragon, chosen by the gods as guardian angels of the Elonian

    Amazon.co.uk Review:
    In a nutshell:
The third Guild Wars campaign is the most sociable of all, in terms of other meeting other people in the massively multiplayer online world and getting help from new virtual heroes.

    The lowdown:
Dubbed the world’s first co-operative online role-playing game (or competitive, depending on your temperament), Guild Wars manages to distinguish itself from the crowd by moving the focus away from constantly levelling up and focusing it squarely on combat between and against players. This third game in the series is set on the new continent of Elona and features two new classes of character to play as: the long range Paragon and the magical Dervish. Twenty new missions and hundreds of quests are included, in what is more than just an expansion pack even if it’s not quite a new game.

    Most exciting moment:
The best new element of the game is certainly the new hero characters who you can recruit to join your cause. Unlike the previous nondescript henchmen these are fully customisable in terms of skills and equipment and you can even set them fighting against each other, in special hero vs. hero areas of the game.

    Since you ask:
Guild Wars is one of the very few commercially available massively multiplayer online role-playing games not to require a monthly subscription fee. Instead, after you’ve bought the game itself, it’s free to play and publisher NCsoft gets its additional revenues through advertising instead.

    The bottom line:
A welcome evolution of one of the most unique online games around.-HARRISON DENT

The Nightfall campaign was by far the best out of all the guildwars games. It was fun and tied in nicely with original Guild Wars lore. Graphics have improved and the lip-syncing at cutscenes is now spot on. Also, the cutscenes have you more involved with the characters as well as the story.

Nightfall is a wonderful campaign set in an African/Egyptian continent. You get to command heroes for the first time which truly adds to the experience. The collector's edition has a bunch of nice addons including an in game collectable, a few posters and a full on art book. Loved it!

My first experience of an Online Role Playing Game. Easy to install and set up on a modest XP system. Quite a learning curve to play but fun doing so.

After the tutorial it felt a bit like the first day at school ,arriving in this big magical world with everyone else running around knowing exactly what they are doing and where they are going.
However other players are friendly and helpful. There is also a useful help system provided by pressing F10.
(By the way, there is no 'walk' option in this game you run everywhere!)

I bought my girlfriend a copy too (as she loves gaming and loved 'Dungeon Siege' and 'Neverwinter Nights' which in some ways this game resembles). After browsing a few web pages for advice we found it fairly easy to meet up online and go off adventuring using the player controlled 'Hero' and 'Henchmen' options to boost the numbers in our party. Communication is by text. Most non-player characters use text to communicate (as opposed to voice acting) which takes getting used to. Heroes have various commands you can click on.

Game play is addictive. You can dive straight in and have fun or explore the complexities of skills, attributes, weapons and upgrades. You can have quick short games or long epics.

Player character selections are all human (no orcs, reptillians etc..) and their faces are all quite similar and a bit too 'pretty pretty' and pouting for my taste (but this is a minor complaint and easily forgotten once you start playing).

Graphics are effective with nice details, I found myself stopping to just look closely on several occasions. It's great to have a game with African inspired themes and characters.

A few extras like the Art book are pleasant to browse through, a good map. The included 'making of' DVD is interesting, the developers seem like nice people who really love what they are doing. I have no use for the cardboard cutout figure or badges which I will probably give to my nephew.

It is addictive and you will look forward to evenings spent online.

No monthly fee is great!

Have fun, I may see you in the game... Regards Mike aka "Sea Reel"

An MMORPG for existing Guild Wars players Or those who have never played before.
If you've played the other campaigns in the Guild Wars series and wondering if you should buy this one or not, I would strongly recommend you do. This takes the game play further than before with the introduction of controllable heroes from the start. More skills, Items and weapons, and two new professions the Paragon and Dervish. Not to mention new guild locations, new land to explore...list is quite long.
The graphics are stunning and the sound and music compliment everything nicely. At some points you'll find yourself just looking at the scenery.

It is an excellent continuation for your existing game characters Or if you have never played Guild Wars don't worry, it's a new story line and has a helpful tutorial at the start for those not familiar with the game. You don't need the others to enjoy this. What makes Guild Wars stand out from other MMO games aswell as it game play is the fact that it's free to play online. All you pay for is the game.

As for the Collectors Edition, you will not be disappointed. Nicely presented, the package comes with a number of goodies that any Guild Wars fan would love. To start, you'll get two large posters one of which is the map of Elona. A Card standee, Two skill pin badges Paragon and Dervish, that to my knowledge you can't get anywhere else. A players guild to nightfall, an amazing book on the art of nightfall (if your into that sort of thing) CD of the game with the access key, the music soundtrack to the game by Jeremy Soule and a DVD of the making of Nightfall which again for any fan, is a must see.

This really is a lovely package to have part of your Guild Wars collection. Even if you have the Game already, the collectors edition with all of its goodies pays for itself. A great price for a great bundle.
