Editorial Review
Amazon.co.uk Review:
In a nutshell:
The third Guild Wars campaign is the most sociable of all, in terms of other meeting other people in the massively multiplayer online world and getting help from new virtual heroes.

The lowdown:
Dubbed the world’s first co-operative online role-playing game (or competitive, depending on your temperament), Guild Wars manages to distinguish itself from the crowd by moving the focus away from constantly levelling up and focusing it squarely on combat between and against players. This third game in the series is set on the new continent of Elona and features two new classes of character to play as: the long range Paragon and the magical Dervish. Twenty new missions and hundreds of quests are included, in what is more than just an expansion pack even if it’s not quite a new game.

Most exciting moment:
The best new element of the game is certainly the new hero characters who you can recruit to join your cause. Unlike the previous nondescript henchmen these are fully customisable in terms of skills and equipment and you can even set them fighting against each other, in special hero vs. hero areas of the game.

Since you ask:
Guild Wars is one of the very few commercially available massively multiplayer online role-playing games not to require a monthly subscription fee. Instead, after you’ve bought the game itself, it’s free to play and publisher NCsoft gets its additional revenues through advertising instead.

The bottom line:
A welcome evolution of one of the most unique online games around.-HARRISON DENT

I went round my freinds house. At school he had been going on about this game called Guild wars. He had even bought in the instruction manual. At that point i was playing on Runescape and wasnt too interested, but it looked like a good game. Also; i was reluctant because at that point, my Pc was the worst computer for seroius gaming. Runescape was Ok as it works on virtually any computer windows 98 above.
I saw this game and created a player. I went through the tutorial and learnt the bacics. My freind had all of the Expantion packs and so it was a good game. Altough i got a laptop for christmas 2007, i still was reluctant.
Then something happened that competly changed my mind. My Runescape account got hacked and i had already got bored as i was not a member.
I decided i needed a better online game. I looked at World of Warcraft but that was out of the question. I had seen it at my freinds and the grathics are rubbish. The whole feel was gritty and reminded me of the reason why i dont like Lord of the rings. Then i remembered Guild wars, how great the grathics were, the beatiful, japenese feel. Guild wars is beatiful and although i do not have it, i'am definetly going to get it!

And i foregot, its free! World of warcraft costs over £30 and a £9 fee per month! It is not worth it.
The people that say on the forums that this game is rubbish, you are more whong than Hitler. Everyone who plays word of warcraft is arrogant and rude, and i dont want to play a game where there are 7 million people like that. I may not have it but being in a school where there are thousands of people who somehow have the money to pay for it, i think i already know what WOW would be like if i played it.
There is another issue. My two freinds who played it have quit, my best freind has moved onto WOW, and i hope he doesnt get that taint. My other has dissapeared from runescape and Guild wars and what he is playing now, goodess knows what. So i will be on my own. But somethimes it is better to go alone, as i' am soon to find out...

As an avid GW player I purchased Nightfall eagerly.
To an experienced GW player it adds a vital new element to the game = Heroes. Similar to henchman, but you can customise their skills and weapons etc, not to mention each one has a unique personality. You can also control how they fight (defend, attack, passive) and where they fight using the flag control system, which is very simple to pick up.

Two new Elona-only professions are featured = the powerful scythe wielding dervish, who relies on enchantments to keep themselves alive. And also, my favorite the slightly underpowered spear-wielding Paragon, who uses shouts and chants to protect the party as a whole.

The new continent, Elona is also visually stunning, and the storyline surpasses that of factions and prophecies. The low - level quests are amazing fun, it is worth starting an Elonian character as well as bringing your existing characters over to play these quests.
However, don't expect to get many playing hours out of it if you're a hardcore gamer. It takes some under 24 hours to beat the game, but some casual gamers such as myself are still yet to finish it. :)

There are also new armors and skills, many of which are vital to the PvP world.

However, those of you who didn't like the original Guild Wars, don't buy this. The general system is the same, and some players might find the missions competitive and tedious. (But I don't!)

For new players, Nightfall is the perfect Campaign to start in. It has a smooth learning curve, and the addition of heroes will aid you greatly.

To really get the most out of Nightfall you should find a friendly guild who are willing to join with you on your travels, and aid you when you have problems.

Also, it is imporatnt to note here that GW doesn't have a monthly fee, so is a great alternative to those of you who cannot afford WoW.

Conclusion: A brilliant addition to the GW world, but if you never liked GW, don't buy it!

See you in Elona!

Ok, I have been playing Guild Wars for about 5 months by now, and I'm still not bored of it, I have played Runescape and I found it rather boring, this game, is amazing, I decided to change from Runescape because it was extremity expensive and when you reach a high lvl like 80 or more, then the game gets really boring and pointless, all there really is to do is hang around with you friends and that is pretty much it.

Guild Wars is a real revolution on online gaming, especially this game, on the whole all three of the games have a high reputation, but this one and the first one are the best rated ones, Guild Wars Nightfall introduces the two new Professions: Dervish, a Scythe wielding warrior (don't mistake yourself with the Warrior, a Warrior boosts it's stats with shouts, but the Dervish boosts it's stats with Enchantments that are very useful in most situations) and the other profession, the Paragon, the Paragons are the guardian angels of the people of Elona, this profession wields a spear and boosts it's stats with shouts and chants.

In Nightfall, there is the new land of Elona, this land is basted on an Egyptian style.

Another addition to the Guild Wars saga is Heroes, Heroes are NPCs that you can control, they level up with you and you can customize there armor with runes, dyes and you can also customize there skills and control them in three ways: Attack, Defend, Passive (Avoid Combat).

The Story line has a real competition with the first Campaign Prophecies, Nightfall and Prophecies are considered the better game than Factions (Story Line) because the Factions one is a bit messed up...

On the whole this is a great game and the people of Arena Net Deserve a real applause because Guild Wars, according to many people GW is the Second most Popular MMO on the Internet, and in my opinion once GW2 comes out in late 2008, it will produce high ratings on the charts and maybe even defeat World of Warcraft...

Oh yes, and in this game there still are no monthly fees, which to be honest is amazing considering how much it has to offer.

I didn't mind Guild Wars at all, but was a little (lot) disappointed with Factions. Way too much PvP content for my liking.

This however, is a return the sort of form that Guild Wars: Prohecies had. The style and much of the content is somewhat different as you would expect from a product sold and installable seperately.

One is never likely to get the content updates that monthly subscription based MMORPGs get, but for those on more irregulat budgets, this sort of thing is not bad at all. Good classes and skills/powers, reasonable graphics if rather mediocre sound.

Started my GW adventure with this one. What can I say...really, really good MMORPG, good story, great PvP.
