Great Product. So Easy To Use, 2008-02-06 I bought 1 of these to replace my Netgear, and it is so easy and simple to set up, within 10 mins I was connected to the internet, I had connected my PSP and DS with the 1 click AOSS system. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new router.
Software alright, hardware excellent, 2008-01-29 I've been connecting to the internet via this router for about four months, and I've had few problems with it. The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is the management interface, which isn't particularly intuitive.
I've tried on many occasions to set up port forwarding for certain ports, and upon doing so the router instructs you to save and reboot it. After doing so, I navigate back to the port forwarding settings and the rules I previously applied have un-applied themselves. However, that aside, I've used it both wired and wirelessly, from my Linux-based PC and my Nintendo DS, and both have been able to connect with no problems. It seems pretty fast, although I can't solely attribute this speed to the router.
The AOSS facility works well, although it took me a while to figure out how to connect another wireless device to it at the same time, which must be done manually.
One last thing to note is that it can get very warm after a while, but this should never be a problem as long as you don't put anything on top of it.
Recommended.
Simple to set up, highly effective and excellent value., 2008-06-03 Up and running in literally minutes, thanks to the highly efficient setup wizard - it almost took less time to set it up than it did to unpack it. It immediately gathered up my home/home office network (2 wired Windows PCs running XP, one wireless laptop running XP, another wireless laptop running Vista Home Premium and a Mac running OSX - quite a mixture) and had them all sharing with none of the pain I remember from the obsolete Inexq router it replaced. Very highly recommended for both experts and new users. Also, I love the idea of having a buffalo router - invaluable during a stampede, presumably. Wonder if it also works on bison and wildebeest?
buffalo router+vista, 2007-11-12 iv,e had my buffalo wireless modem router for 3 mths now and it was easy to set up,me being a novice to laptops and iv,e had no problems running it on vista home basic .
Perfect on day one, 2007-11-22 I received this router today and so far it is in good working order. It is replacing a netgear DG834G v2 which failed to work after a couple of years (couldn't connect to net). When the netgear broke, I first purchased a zoom router. This was not a good idea as I soon found out. It was disconnecting frequently which is not helpful!
I then went back to the bt home hub that we were given free. It works ok, but the connection slows down to 500kbps after a couple of days so it needs rebooting which is just too much hassle.
So then I turned my head in the buffalo's direction. Boot up time is quick compared to the netgear, and page load times seem to have increased from the other routers I have tried.
Wireless range is better than all 3 of my previous routers (downstairs signal is excellent running at 54mbps) which is always good. Wireless transfer speed is also better across a network (just sent a couple of files).
So all in all, on day one...the router is bang on the money!
