Superb! Far more than just a panini-press!, 2008-10-12
This is sold as a panini-press but you can use it to cook all kinds of things - I've done burgers and chicken in it before now! It's a stylish little piece of kit, so I don't mind having it out on show in the kitchen ready for use. It comes with 2 sets of plates - "plain" and "ribbed", so you can cook your panani without the classic ridges, if you so wish. The plates are easy to change and just flip out after sliding a catch open. The plates are non-stick and super-easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher. The outer-casing does get a bit hot during use, but DeLonghi do tell you this in the instructions, so no risk of accidents there. The unit itself heats up really quickly (within a few minutes) and panini are cooked within maybe 5 minutes, depending on how thick you have the filling. As electronic panini presses go, this one is superb.
Was good till the plates gave up on me, 2008-11-11
I was really pleased with this grill... it was small and nice looking.. and you could stick the removeable plates in the dishwasher (pet hate about george foreman one - scrubbing.... filth) So i bought this 6 months ago and i am now sending it back to delonghi as the black protective coating off the plates has come away - and is literally flaking off all over the food. To be fair delonghi have been brilliant - as i only contacted them to get some replacement plates - but they do not sell them and have asked me to return to entire unit... But I hope they dont have it for too long - i have grown quite attached to it.
