Amazon.co.uk Review In a nutshell: From the makers of Gran Turismo comes the real riding simulator – the most realistic motorcycle game ever for the PS2. Not only that but it’s also got the best graphics ever seen in a racing game, over 100 fully licensed bikes and 20 different race events. The lowdown: When they called this a simulator they weren’t kidding. The attention to detail is unparalleled in any other PS2 game, with 125 different bikes all of which look and handle exactly like the real thing. Not only that but you can customise your bike’s set-up in every way imaginable, even down to the exact way you hold your head while riding. However, although the game’s career mode is structured like Gran Turismo there’s no money to earn or after market parts to buy, with new bikes being won Ridge Racer style. There’s also only a maximum of four bikes in any race, but with 37 courses to play through that’s not a problem for the true motorcycle fanatic. Most exciting moment: Although you can customise the controls however you want, for the ultimate challenge try turning off all the driving aids and learn to work both the front and back brakes of your motorcycle. It’s the only way to get the best times and the most exciting ride. Since you ask: The European version of the game includes three new bikes not seen in the U.S. or Japanese versions - the Kawasaki Z1000S1, Z1000R1 RacingModified and GS1000R RacingModified – as well as three new music tracks. The bottom line: Gran Turismo for motorcycles is the most realistic simulation ever. Harrison Dent

Gets too boring, 2007-01-15 i enjoy playing bike games and when i saw this i thought i must get it. when i did i found it quite hard at the start but once u get into it and used to the handling it becomes boring. the opponents are rubbish and are not challenging at all. also its not like gt4 when u win u get money and in this u get bike leathers and bikes and u dont even have to buy the bikes u just have to do easy challenges.
there are some good points like the graphics and the choices of bikes and circuits and also the handling is quite hard at the start but u get used to it.
overall it has a good base but could be improved a lot with the riders ai and the money.
Now this is more like it!, 2008-07-25 I've owned many motorcycle racing games over the years and few have really caught my attention. The first decent games were Superbikes 2k and 2001 and 500GP. These both had nice graphics and gameplay; GP500 also had 3rd party bikes and sounds to add on.
Then there was Riding Spirits, which had potential as a bike Gran Turismo, but the bike physics weren't great. The sounds were pretty authentic and there were simply tonnes of bike and upgradeable parts (exhausts, tuning etc). When Riding Spirits II came out I bought it straight away, excited to see what they'd done with it. They'd killed it! The bikes sounds were awful and the handling was ridiculous: the centre of gravity must've been at tank level and so the bike would weave from one side of the track to the other with the slightest correction; not good at all.
The next game I got was MotoGP 4. It's an ok game, I suppose; but is fairly limited. The graphics are great and the sounds is fair, although nothing like a MotoGP bike.
My next purchase was TT Superbikes. I loved the idea of riding the full Manx TT course and Southern 100. I wasn't expecting much from a fairly cheap game, I have to say; but it turned out to be sensational. I still play it now.
The less said about Superbike Challenge the better; utter pile of crap.
Now to the matter at hand: Tourist Trophy! What a superb game. The bike models are perfect; the sound it wonderful and the handling realistic without being unmanageable. This really is Gran Turismo for bikes! I would have liked a few more models and a lot more tracks. It seems to me that this was a tester to see if people liked it. This is what Riding Spirits could have been, or should have been. I hope they stick with this like GT, because the foundations are solid. It just needs more tracks, bikes and I'd like to be able to do longer races and not have to start with a time delay and have to catch the other two (yeah, needs more there too) riders up. I'd also like to be able to buy the bikes, as well as winning them and to be able to customise (a la Gran T).
This is a winning game for bike fans. Lots of variety and I can't help trying to improve my lap time of the Nurburgring. I'd love to see Donnington, Brands Hatch, Philip Island etc too.
Top bike racer!
bzzzzzzz, 2007-05-15 i love racing games, i love racing but please people, dont mistake anything from polyphony digital for racing.... its mearly automotive porn!
I also have GT4 and everything is identicle to this game, apart from the bikes of course, and 1 track valencia. The AI is rubbish... go slow enough and stay right on the racing line and all u end up with is a queue... not riders tearing off into the distance, overtaking or muscling u out the way. And the bloody 10 second penalty drives me NUTS!!!! why o why is it there? in a game thats all too easy to make a mistake due to the "realistic" handling u get punished for a tyre on the grass, or trying to outbrake yourself, nudging an opponent... but not them if they nerf u off a hairpin, hmmmm, i wudnt mind if i ended up in a tankslapper and spun off me bike, but y shud i be slowed down for 10 secs for getting it wrong by an inch on the outside of a kerb?
i must admit, mastering the bikes and theyr handling is challenging and fun, but wen thats done its boring, as is GT4 unless u can handle just driving for the sake of it. Buy motoGP or TOCA3 for racing, but GT4 and this for realism.
A beauty of a bike racer, usual problems., 2006-12-16 I've waited for a bike game to look, feel, sound and handle like this for years and finally it's arrived. For any bike nut this game is for you, realistically detailed bikes to ride and drool over in the replay's of your racing. A nice selection of leather suits, gloves, boots and helmets to customise your rider. For the people that love to tinker with setups this caters for you too as you can alter suspension settings, brake settings, exhaust types and even adjust the gearing to suit. You can even modify how your rider sits and moves on the bike, now thats detailed. If your familiar with the Gran Turismo series then you will recognise the tracks as GT4 has all the same tracks except one Valencia, specially put in there for us bikers to recreate some WSB moments of our own, well thats what i like to think.
Now the not so good points, as with every game in the Gran Turismo series the opponent AI aint so intelligent so most races are easily won. Instead of winning money at the end of a race you get new kit and/or bikes now some people would see that as a good thing but i'd prefer to buy my own bikes and rider kit instead of having my garage filled with tat i dont want especially as you cant get rid of them buy selling or removing, once you got that bike you keep it, it's a minor thing for me you may not care. Last thing is the game could be longer, 20 odd race series, most with 3 to 5 races in the series you select, it is okay but if like me you love playing this game you'll have finished it pretty quickly.
So there you go, it's my honest opinion that this game is brilliant and i'm glad to have brought it, definatley not a waste of cash for me and i hope that there will be a new installment which is better and longer with more bikes and tracks, but that will be on the PS3 i should think.
Gran Turismo on Bikes, 2008-02-02 Without a shadow of a doubt this is simply Gran Turismo 4 with bikes, without a few tracks and without the micro management of car parts.
If you've played GT4 as I have then this is all very familiar. Same interface, same menus, same style of selecting bikes, same modes of play, even the tones and tunes when selecting things.
Graphics are great, as is the track details and bike details. Handling is subtle to each bike. The classic GT speedo view works great, much better than other bike game cockpit views.
In Arcade you can race on each track with a selection of bikes. In TT mode it is slightly dfferent to GT. The license test [yes they are included]of which there are four, and similar to GT, give permission to ride bikes rated on licenses. You then use the bikes you can access to undertake challenges. Beat the challenge, win the bike, use it in races. Simple. No credits, no mods, just racing.
I actually prefer the structure of TT to GT and found it made the game a 'bit' more fun to play. There is quite a bit of longevity in the game if you set out to complete all of the challenges etc.
If the game can be criticised its because like most bike games it can get a bit dull and repetitive after a while. But it does have a good selection of bikes and tracks so if you are a bike or racing fan you will probably enjoy this.
