A fantastic new campaign to the Guild Wars series and even better, it's the Collectors Edition! You get a unique in-game minipet and unique collector's edition dance moves for the Assassin and Ritualist class. (Type /dancenew when in-game)
You play in the lands of Cantha, where the evil Shiro Tagachi has come back from the spirit realm and is planning his domination of Cantha.
I wouldn't recommend this campaign to anyone new to Guild Wars, as you level a lot faster in Factions than you do in any other Guild Wars campign. Some might see this as an upside, but as a new player it can be difficult to get a hang of the game when you're at a high level but you don't know what you're doing. But don't get me wrong, I certainly wouldn't put anyone off playing this brilliant game.

The contents of this box set are superb, a must buy for any fan.
The game itself is very good, the set also contains a music cd featuring music by the brillant Jermey Soule (sp?) who did the music for the Harry Poter games, as well as Dungeon seige.
Also included is a beautiful book featuring the concept art for the game, A Poster with a map on the back, the map side is more useful then the poster side!
There is a mouse mat and stickers, not so much worth using in my honest veiw, though nice to look at.
And also a nicely printed character from the game on cloth, an unusual item.
all in all a very interesting and pretty set.

Fantastic expansion to a fantastic series. Great collectors edition as well, come with lots of stuff including a very impressive gaming surface, nice art book, great soundtrack CD and awesome poster.
Highly recommended for new players or previous players looking for an expansion to the original or other games.
 Not as good, 2010-06-06
Not as good as either prophecies or eye of the north. The new classes are not as playable as the original classes and appear to be invented just to give credence to asking people to buy the new game. I think it would have been better to have continued with the expansion idea.
The new character slots are the main reason I purchased the new game but I will probably use them to make more characters from the original classes.
Having said that "Guild Wars" is still, in my opinion the best multy player online game around.
Factions Collectors Edition, 2009-08-09
This is a beautifully presented set and a bargain at this price. The contents range from useful and practical (the mouse mat) to lovely to have and look at (the art book). There's the fun in game bonuses of special dances for Assassin and Ritualist characters plus the mini dragon pet. There's a pocket sized book giving you lots of insight into what to expect, which is also beautifully illustrated. You get the music from the game on a CD, which is lovely music and stands up on its' own. All in all this box is a bargain. You can pay around £25 for a game and not get much more than an installation disk, this is a heavy box stuffed full of stuff for under £13 and all of it is at least good quality. The only complaint I have is that the CD didn't have a track listing and the online process to add extra in game music seems to have stopped working.
One further comment to make for new comers to Guild Wars, you will need a net connection up to run this game, as it is played online. The good news is that there are no monthly fees to pay! It is a well supported game with regular updates and events.
