A must buy for retro WWF fans, 2008-03-20 For those like me who watched the then WWF as a kid in the early 90s, this DVD boxset is the one for you as it contains the very best WrestleManias of that era.
It starts off with WrestleMania VI and the epic Hogan-Warrior title vs title match in front of 65,000 fans inside the Toronto SkyDome and the atmosphere was amazing.
WrestleMania VI was highlighted by the Warrior-Savage retirement match and the reunion of Savage and Miss Elizabeth, not to mention Hogan taking on Sgt Slaughter in the Main Event WWF Title match.
WrestleMania VIII was in front of another massive crowd at the Hoosier Dome this time and had a double main event. WWF Champion Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage and Sid Justice looking to end Hulkamania. The match that outshone the 2 though had to be the IC Title match between Roddy Piper and Bret Hart.
WrestleMania IV was the first WrestleMania outside, at Caesar's palace and was dubbed The Biggest Toga Party in the World. The Yokozuna- Bret Hart WWF Title ended in a superbly contraversial finish.
WrestleMania X saw it return to MSG and saw 2 WWF Title matches (Yokozuna took on Luger, with the winner taking on Bret Hart). Owen Hart and Bret Hart put on a fantastic opener, but Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels stole the show with their IC Title ladder match.
WrestleMania XI had a WWF Title match of Diesel vs HBK, but was main evented by Bam Bam Bigelow taking on NFL player Lawrence Taylor, in which was a celebrity packed WrestleMania, most notably Pamela Anderson.
All in all this pack contains the best WrestleManias of the retro era of guys like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Roddy Piper, Razor Ramon, Yokozuna, Legion of Doom, Million Dollar Man, Mr Perfect and many, many more greats.
THE ULTIMATE DVD SET, 2006-08-11 my first ever experience of wwf was hogan vs the warrior.
68000 screaming fans watched one of the greatest bouts in wrestling history, two of the rings greats pitching their best at one another, neither able to break the his opposer down.
if you have been weened up on todays .....frankly crap... offerings for wrestling then i urge you to buy wrestlemania 6 to 11.
ok 9 and 11 arent up to much but 6,7,8,10 are prob the best of all wrestlemanias.
8 is a classic! witness ric flair and randy savage destroy each other and not to mention bret harts blood covered face at the hands of an in his prime hot rod.
sid justice was unfortunately unwisely used in what should have been his moment in the spotlight.
but who am i to tell mcmahon how to run a company.

Inconsistent, with three very poor years, 2007-05-02 As the 1980's drew to a halt the WWF was in full bloom with its image of "Sports Entertainment" beginning to dominate the industry. The wrestlers of the time were beefed up super-heroes (many of whom could not actually wrestle) and toward the end of the years covered by this box-set the WWF would be best by federal investigations into steroid scandals and smaller men would be taking their places in the main event.
There's not a lot at all positive about Wrestlemania VI. It's a shame because as the last `Mania of the 1980s, and supposedly the transition to a new championship era (oh how wrong they were about that one), we could have hoped it to be far better. This is a card of 14 matches that would have been far better stripped down to maybe ten longer and more meaningful matches. The Main Event is among the worst in Wrestlemania history, although it has iconic imagery going for it. It comes down to two men clubbing impotently at each other with improbable near falls, rope shaking, pointing, gurning, chest-beating, jogging and splashing.
Wrestlemania VII marks a relative return to form after two poor years with a straight up all time classic match included. A number of matches have stories going into this event, from the in depth to the "he spilled my pint" level and that encourages a fine crowd response. The match of the night is the Career Ending Match between Savage and the Ultimate Warrior. Savage once again uses his midas touch to create a masterpiece. Even the after match reunion between Macho and former main squeeze Elizabeth is beautifully judged and brings a lump to the throat. The highly questionable gimmick going into the main event, with Iraqi sympathiser Sargeant Slaughter taking on Hulk Hogan at the time of the first Gulf War, is the thing that Wrestlemania VII will always be most remembered for.
Wrestlemania VIII has two cracking matches. The match of the night is a clash of the babyfaces where Piper and Bret Hart battle over the Intercontinental Championship with neither man acting like it's the organisations second belt on the line. The World Championship match is a corker with a pointless back story involving a fictional affair between Flair and Elizabeth being neatly eclipsed by a pure wrestling classic. Its not Savage's finest match but it is leaps and bounds over the previous year's main event. The Hulk Hogan/Sid Justice effort that closes the show has only one good point- its mercifully brief.
Wrestlemania IX is, in my opinion, the worst Wrestlemania of all time. About the only really good thing about the card is the commentary team. The opening match is passable but far too long. The sheer volume of Hulk Hogan is painful with him popping up in a terrible tag match before returning at the end to depressingly pose with the World Title. The Undertaker versus Giant Gonzalez is the very definition of a Wrestlemania stinker. Giant Gonzalez makes The Great Khali look like Chris Benoit and the ending with "chloroform" being used to anaesthetise The Undertaker....?
After that Wrestlemania needed a lift and it got it (somewhat) with number ten. This event features the best Wrestlemania opening match EVER!!!! A move perfect display of skill and ability, this is not just Owen Hart's finest Wrestlemania hour but Bret's as well, the rest of the card had to be a damp squib. The card also has another scorcher, this time in a less than pure wrestling affair in the first ladder match on a WWF PPV. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon leave nothing in the locker room.
Finally we have Wrestlemania XI, another very poor effort. The world championship match is the only really good match on the card, largely due to the top notch performance of Shawn Michaels. This single handedly rescues the event from WMIX levels of enjoyableness. As a main event we are "treated" to a match between perennial mid-carder Bam Bam Bigelow and a football player named Lawrence Taylor whose wrestling training seems to have been entirely based around shoulder blocks. Wrestlemania XI joins the ranks of the very worst Wrestlemanias.
This is the worst of the 4 anthology box sets due to the presence of three terrible events. Its worth buying for completism and to own the Savage/Warrior and Hart/Hart matches but if it's a choice between this and the other 3 sets then leave this one on the shelf.
