I am surprised by how much my four year old son enjoys this relatively simple game. He loves the surprise of turning over his cards and discovering how many bones he has. Most importantly his counting has improved tremendously as it his 'job' to count everyone's bones at the end of the game.

I bought this for my 3 year old grandson for Christmas and the whole family joined in to play! (I love the group interaction you get from these sorts of 'old fashion' games as appose to computer games) And William really enjoyed showing off his counting skills!

I bought this Orchard game for my daughter who is 3 1/2.
I love the fact that it is not only a counting game but a game of chance.
You need to roll a dice then find a corresponding card. On the back of that card are bones - either 1,2 or 3. The person with the most bones is the winner. From a parents point of view it means that you aren't constantly trying to lose.... and from a childs point of view I feel it is important for them to learn that they can't win everything!!!
I found her counting skills developed very quickly - using pattern recognition on the dice - just as i would.
