Regarding Henry, 2009-08-31 This was a trip down memory lane as we had this on vhs, now replacing all onto dvd this film was a must. Seller excellent, and delivered very quickly. Many thanks!
Losing something is to gain everything, 2010-05-01 I would say this is Harrison Ford in a more sensitive role than his usual strong character. Playing a top attorney, he has a successful outcome in a court case, after which he is shot, which leaves him completely paralysed and with accute amnesia. Henry needs to relearn basic things like walking and talking and recalling memories of job and family life.
His wife (Annette Bening) must come to terms with a non-existant income and a very different Henry and the two faced "friends" that they once enjoyed socialising with.
It slowly dawns on Henry that the man he is now is not the man he was, and so takes the painful steps to rectify his emotional and professional past and begins a fresh relationship, on a different level, with his young daughter. It is this that brings him and his family together
A very heartwarming and emotionally uplifting movie...for Ford fans, one you should not miss!
classic film, 2010-05-04 i really love this film a great study of human nature in times of crisis
would recommend for anyone interested in the working of the brain a humane film satisfying watch maybe for the older person or more thoughtful young
Ridiculous portrayal of brain injury, 2010-02-09 Basic plot: cut-throat lawyer gets shot in the head and the chest. Bullet lodged in his frontal lobes seems to have caused little damage, but bullet in chest caused cardiac arrest and anoxic brain injury. As a result, he turns into a really nice bloke, develops a conscience and becomes a devoted family man. This is one of the most ridiculous depictions of brain injury that I have ever seen. His main cognitive deficit seems to be a severe retrograde amnesia (recall of information from before the injury), with virtually no anterograde amnesia (ability to learn new information), and his personality has changed for the better. Absolutely nothing about this film is believable. No wonder it is virtually forgotten now.
If you have any direct or indirect experience of brain injury, do not watch this film as it will only annoy you.
Heart warming tale for family viewing, 2010-03-21 Feel-good movie of heartless lawyer who becomes a better/nicer person after being shot and suffering brain injury. Realistic? Possibly not. However, films do not always have to be realistic to be enjoyable. This is just a piece of easy viewing, with certificate 12, so suitable for most families to watch together.
If you like this, you'll probably also like "Heart and Souls" with Robert Downey Jr.
