Amazon.co.uk Review The long awaited release of Doom 3 sees it claiming two of gaming’s highest accolades: that of having the best graphics ever seen and of being the scariest video game ever made. The question of graphics seemed a pretty open and shut case from the moment the game was announced--this is the first new title from legendary developers iD Software since Quake III: Arena and as such it features completely new graphics technology. The reason the game is likely to win the Dr Who award for behind the sofa gaming is in the way it chooses to use its awesome new graphical power. The game’s storyline is a loose remake of the first Doom game (from way back in 1993) but the style of gameplay is actually radically different. This is more like a first person Resident Evil than anything else, with corpses lunging out at when you least expect it and monsters scattering their innards all over the place whenever you introduce them to the business end of your shotgun. In actual fact though it’s not the graphics that are the most disturbing aspect of the game but the sound, with every unknown noise ratcheting the tension up so much that by the time a monster actually does appear it’s almost a relief to tangle with them. Doom 3 is not for the faint hearted and that’s not a warning to be taken lightly--anyone keen on wearing oversized women’s shirts will have a coronary within minutes. But for everyone else this is exactly what the doctor ordered. --David Jenkins

Its OK..., 2008-10-22 I`ll be honest, I thought the game was a bit of a let down.
Graphics are great!, Sound is spooky and your opponents can really set your toe nails on fire. Yes, it did in fact give me a kick.
But it gets ever so repetitive. imho, this game lives from the tension built up by the environments, but the story leaves me cold.
Sorry. But I actually got bored. There are other games, which engage you in a way to make you feel for your protagonist. Games with a story that rouses more than just adrenaline.
Bubble's Reviews, 2009-06-15 This Game Is An Old Game But Its Still Fun I Had This Game On The PLaystation One When It First Came Out And it Was Good Then And Its Still Good Now...Bit Scary In Some Parts If You Sit In The Dark On Your Own..But Thats All The Fun Of The Game...This Is One Of My Favourite Games..
DOOM 3, 2009-05-26 Firstly this is not like any of the previous games, the previous games only portray hell in what people think it looks like but all pixelated which was great for a 90's game this however is like a re-make that people was waiting for, to people that never played doom it will be the first doom game they ever knew. This is more scarier than F.E.A.R. itself as you roam through the facility of mars, giving a storyline for the first time and more of a chacrter called a marine than the "doom guy" and as soon as you get to your mission objectives lights go out, flaming heads go at you and its all packed action. Without no weapons at first you have to avoid zombies and as it progresses new enemies appear but jump out when you least expect it. Lights can come on but shut down and come on again, voices can be heard or visions can be seen in mirrors when there not there but are seen five seconds later. I won't ruin the main storyline for anyone as it does get confusing at first as doom should be but explains itself later on but ammo is all you need for this game without ammo you will die.
Typical boring Id snooze-fest, 2009-03-15 A very dull game and unoriginal game that has nothing what so ever to do with the Doom franchise. What I mean by this is that there are never hoards of enemies attacking you, only 2 or 3 and that is not Doom. If you want that type of game these days then get Painkiller or Serious Sam. This is a boring flawed overly-dark game that, even with mods, can't help but still be dull because there's just no life within it.
great game, 2009-05-12 People say "where's ai?" "where's gameplay?" "it is repetitive" "it is dark".... probably don't know what is a survival horror shooter.
If you like old-school FPS you can't miss doom 3, otherwise come back to play some other pseudo-game.
