Amazon.co.uk Review "Whoo-whoo!"--BRIO's Record and Play Railway Station is a beautifully crafted interactive toy. A solid beechwood railway platform is tailor-made for lots of imaginative role-play: there's a window for the ticket master, a doorway to the waiting area, and a painted flagstone walkway leading down a hall. And the features! Buttons on the rooftop turn station lights on and off--or sound forth a very realistic train arrival; an analog-style play clock can be set to any time; a detachable chunk of track bears a simple, sturdy, rotating destination sign offering a choice of London, Berlin, Tokyo, or New York. But the main attraction is the built-in rooftop speaker. With the push of a button, children can record and play back a full 10 seconds of their own terrific sound effects or announcements ("All aboard! Passengers leaving for Tokyo, please board at Gate 1 immediately!")--and change them as often as they please. The set requires three AA batteries (not included); for those concerned about the safety of younger railway workers, the battery compartment has a secure, recessed screw closure. --Julie Ubben

Well Worth the Money - Sturdy and Great Fun, 2008-11-17 We must have owned this product for about 4 years now and the voice recording part is as good as ever. My children find it hilarious fun recording messages, songs and other sounds for the station announcement. It is very simple to do so even 3 year olds can master it. You can record again and again.
With two boys who have hundreds of Thomas related items (my youngest son is even called Thomas because of his older brothers Thomas obsession) I would rate this as our second best purchase ever.
There are four easily operated buttons on the top of the station. The far right button switches on and off two station lights. The next button operates a steam train sound - a very realistic steam train slowing down into the station noise. The far left button plays the sound you have recorded and pressing down this button plus the button next to it while speaking records your message.
It fits onto every kind of wooden track we have: brio, learning curve, supermarket own brand etc. but my children are equally happy carrying it around and making me jump wth the messages you can record. Be prepared for some great role playing and fun messages to make you laugh.
A must have purchase for anyone with a wooden train set.
Good fun for all, 2008-02-03 This was an Xmas present for my 1 year old to add to the wooden set he inherited from his 4 year old sister. They both love the train set and character engines. This station has added an extra dimension they both enjoy. It's so simple to record, replay and re-record announcements. The wooden system is not cheap, but in my opinion it's about saving money on cheap track alternatives whilst spending the extra on more interesting add-ons. This is one such investment.
Sturdy colourful sound-recording fun, educational too, 2008-11-25 This is an excellent toy! The construction is solid and sturdy, and the batteries will last quite a while as the lights and sounds don't take up too much juice. As with every other Brio toy we have, this one gets lots of use and still doesn't show wear. Its going to teach the kids about the nature of sounds, recording, time, clocks, and its great fun! Thoroughly recommended.
