Not enough Japanese, 2006-03-19 I don't agree with the synopsis that this is also for more advanced learners. I am still a beginner but this was like going back to kindergaren - perhaps because of the narrator's "Listen with Mother" style. I have only done disc one but there is very little Japanese - a few simple dialogues which are done to death (repeated over and over again) and most of the audio content is a woman speaking English, wasting audio time with a advice about having a go: it is not the end of the world if you make a mistake because most Japanese people will be pleased that you are trying. Well thanks for that useful tip.
Great way to learn the devil's language, 2006-08-31 Great cd japanese course. Introduces the listener to japanese conversation in a logical and entertaining manner. I like the pace and the style but I do agree with the earlier reviewer though that the publisher should have left longer pauses for one to repeat should be longer - get tired of diving for the pause button all the time. A minor complaint though. I've used Helen Gilhooly's Teach Yourself Japanese script before to read and write japanese, and she's obviously a great teacher. I recommend this course highly.
Simply Wonderful, 2006-10-24 Forget pages of grammar and lists of verbs. This book does what it says - Teach Yourself Japanese Conversation! Its got lively, fun dialogues and these are realistic ones that you might actually use. Haven't yet get onto cd3, but am enjoying this course very much so far. I give it five stars.
Fantastic!, 2006-08-21 This is an excellent cd course which takes one from the basics to a high level of japanese without meaningless and complicated grammar exercises. I thoughly recommend it! Subarashi!
A cracker !, 2006-07-31 I don't understand the negativity of the previous reviewer. i think this cd is fantastic. I don't have time to sit and study from a book but have been playing the cds in my car on my way to and from work and on business trips. I was recently introduced to a Japanese colleague and to my amazement found myself being able to have a conversatuion in Japanese and its all thanks to this course! I recommend it as a good balance between conversations and english guidance and advice. too much japanese at first would have put me off!
