this book i thought was very imformative and well laid out. having the audio cd to accompany the learning was very useful, it gave clear pronunciation for the new vocabularly and phrases. i would reccommmend this book for any one starting out to learn irish or for anyone who is a little rusty. it is iontach iontach maith!!

This on its own is not the easiest of language tutorials. However combine it with the specified book and the two are a great comprehensive, easy to use package. It is probably cheaper to by the cassette and book in the pack, rather than seperatly.

This book follows the standard format of many self-teach language courses, starting with a chapter covering pronunciation, followed by the hello, goodbye, and introductions chapter.

The idea of having a CD or cassette as part of the course seems a great idea - but the cheapest version (which I bought accidently) does not actually have the CD - just numerous references to it, so be very careful which version you pick. Give the one with the ISBN number 0-340-79984-6 a miss and pay a few extra quid for the benefit of being able to hear the pronunciation!
