On Wings of Eagles, 2008-04-01 A very good read. The first half of the book was perhaps a little drawn out but the second half was a fast action packed adventure. The fact that it was a true story added to the overall interest and enjoyment. I really enjoyed the book and recommend it strongly
Disappointed, 2008-08-26 Ken Follet books are usually a good read, this proved the exception. I was left with the feeling that this novel was a PR puff for EDS and Ross Perot. Stick to novels Ken.
First Non-Fiction I really enjoyed, 2003-11-18 I have read many of Ken Follet's books and count him as one of my favourite authors. On Wings of Eagles is a real story about a rescue mission of 2 American businessmen who have been looked up in an Iranian jail. The story is quite dramatized, but I still think it works and captures the reader as this has been written as a novel. Overall I would categories this book as a very good book, as it is fun to read, it captures you that it is hard to stop and in addition you learn about the political situation during this time.
Yes, it's not a novel!, 2009-01-07 This factual reconstruction of actual events is as highly competent as any other similar work by journalists or historians, better than many in fact. It demonstrates another set of skills available to this brilliant novelist and I wish he had done more of the same. Those who give it a low star rating because it's not a novel should read the cover before purchasing. It is grossly misleading to others to criticise a superb piece of work because you bought something in ignorance, such stupid reviews should not be published.
Note: This is a non-fiction book !, 2001-02-05 I find Folletts novels very entertaining, but this is NOT a novel, but a kind of 'dramatized' account of a real-life rescue of two American citizens from a jail in Teheran. I think that a straight objective account of the incident would have done more justice to the people involved in the mission. And because it reads like a novel you expect to see more action and suspense. All in all, I suggest that you don't read this book, before you have read all of Folletts novels.
