I was curious to know whether this book would live up to it's title. I was very impressed with the tips given, so I ordered another four copies for family and friends. This is definatley a book that will pay for itself over and over.

We all have a personal inflation rate and the best way to keep our personal inflation rate low is to save money on everything we buy. This book helps you to do just that. great value.

This is a fantastic book and I'd recommended it to anyone who likes to get the best value for money possible. It's got lots of good websites and contact phone numbers which are still valid in 2003 even though this edition was written in 2000. There is something of interest to everyone in this book - a few examples are cheap clothing and cosmetics, buying a house or a car, eating out, holidays, computers, food, phone calls, utility bills, dentistry, massage and beauty therapy...the list is endless.

Being rather frugal myself, I purchased this book, hoping to live life even more economically than I already do.
On the early pages the book states how it will soon save you at least the cost of the book, in your more thrifty lifestyle (unless you are reading the book in the shop, or borrowed it from a library!). But this has not turned out to be the case for me.
There are some valid points in the book, but I find the applicable ones, which could potentially save me money, are impractical. For example, details are given of a website that offers lots of freebies. However, this website bombarded me with lots of unwanted emails once I signed up, and I have yet to take advantage of any of the offers there.
There are also some tips that I strongly disagree with in the book. It advises against paying any money into a pension for instance, and suggests alternatives as to where one could invest the money. But I do not agree with this. It even makes a derogatory statement about my intelligence for thinking this way!
Any real money saving tips for me were just a pure matter of common sense, which we should all have an ounce or two of (this supposedly being a common sense book!)

As a former student I always thought myself to be quite good at scouting out the odd bargain every now and again. Then I bought this book and discovered my bargain hunting was small time compared with the tips in this book.

There are tips related to almost everything with some very usefull links to extra material online. Buy this book and you'll get your money back even if you only follow a few tips here.
