Comment: This was the first book by Hesse I ever read and I must say that I really enjoyed it, even though I expected it to be a bit too spiritual for me. I liked the pace and simple, clear style that the author used. If you are looking for deep meanings I am sure you can find them, if not, it can just be enjoyed as a rather pleasant story. It is definitely worth a read at some point.
