In Jet Set Radio, you play the role of a whacked out kid who is completely torqued off about the system. It seems that the city of Tokyo to is not terribly "kid friendly" and they want to keep things neat and pretty. You, the skater punk, figure the only way to rebel is with your inline skates and a couple of cans of Krylon. That kind of attitude can lead to trouble when you are in the real world, but in the world of Jet Set Radio there are no paint fumes and its all done in the name of fun and scoring points.Jet Set's gameplay has some of the feel of Crazy Taxi. As you skate you see little floating arrows that indicate where you should go (and where you should be tagging). Underscoring all of this action is a deejay at the local hip-hop station, who spins cool tunes while you tear up Little Tokyoto. The game starts out with a training course designed to bring you up to speed. Pay good attention to this section; it teaches you the basics and you are tested on one of the lessons right away. Once your skating skills are set, you will learn the spray can side of things, and manoeuvre around the city spraying to your hearts content. Much about Jet Set Radio has "classic" stamped on it. With its fresh characters, cool design, great music and audio, and high replayability, Jet Set Radio is likely to lodge itself into the libraries of many Dreamcast owners. --Todd Mowatt

If you are looking for a game that doesn't have much substance, but is good fun to play while it lasts, then Virtua Athlete is the ideal game. Based around the Sydney Olympics, Sega's attempt at the Olympic gold is unfortunately more a bronze when compared to the likes of Sydney 2000 and International Track and Field. This is not to say that the game is a complete shambles: the finely polished game does shine graphically, and what it does concentrate on, it does well. In Virtua Athlete the events follow the standard range, 100m Dash, Long Jump, 110m Hurdles, Shot Put, High Jump, Javelin and the finger numbing 1,500m are all present as you work your way through the seven events to be crowned with gold medals. There are five difficult levels to challenge yourself with and if that wasn't enough, Sega have included the option to download, and upload, race data to a World Network Ranking System on Dreamarena. If you are looking for a well-polished game, glorious eye candy and great pick up and play options then Virtua Athlete will definitely fill those needs. If however, a range of depth is more your game then one of the other Olympic titles might be better suited.--Stuart Miles
Great arcade style sports game, 2002-07-11 Although a lot of people dislike Virtua Athlete, I think the game is quitte good if you expect an arcade style sports. The game play is easy and the multi-player option is big fun. Don't expect a really big and long sports game made for a console, but just a straight arcade game. If you like arcade style sports you will love Virtua Athlete, but if you want a much deeper game with lots of options then go for Sydney 2000 or Int. Track & Field.

Sega
With more and more games turning to the field of extreme sports, it was only a matter of time before one game tried to tackle them all. Sega Extreme Sports tries to do just that and does a pretty good job of it.Rather than offer you the chance to play each sport individually like a sort of decathlon, Sega have opted for the rather original choice of rolling them into one, well sort of. The levels, which are structured in such a way that you are completing in an ever-changing non-stop race containing at least three events sees you jumping on snowboards, bungee jumping, mountain biking, hand gliding and even sandboarding in a game that offers you that "I've got to get to the next stage feeling". Couple this with a gruelling Championship mode and the usual array of time trails and bonus tracks and what you end up with is a very nice refreshing change. What Sega have managed to do is create a game that doesn't get bogged down in any one topic, but gives you a sample of them all in a fast-paced race. --Stuart Miles
Extremely good, 2001-04-06 This is definetely one of the best and most addictive games I have ever played. The graphics are georgous, the playability is second to none and the difficulty level is just right to keep you coming back without thinking the ending goal is impossible. This is a game to buy no matter what genre you're into. The only short coming of the game is that to get some of the extra tracks you must go onto their site via your console. Fantastic!!! 5 Starts

A group of international terrorists led by Agares have seized control of a deadly laser armed satellite and hols the world to ransom. As CMF agent Howard Gibson or Jean Clifford your mission is to recover the control device on an assignment that seems an inpossible Confidential Mission.Including Agent Academy, Partner and Another World modes have you got what it takes to save the world from the evil Agares.
So good, It's Confidential!, 2001-05-03 Confidential Mission was released in the arcades not too long ago. It's yet another light-gun game that sees you sporting a plastic gun and shooting at a big screen. Keeping with the tradition of Sega arcade games, Confidential Mission was fantastic. Although it's nothing strikingly original, Confidential Mission is fantastically addictive and mind-numbingly fun to play. And the great thing is, it's coming to Dreamcast! The Dreamcast version is a perfect conversion of its arcade counterpart in every way. The graphics, sound and screen-shooting gameplay have been converted from the arcade into the comfort of your own home. It brings with it the entire arcade experience and feels just as good. Your wallet will also be feeling good too because you won't have to keep pumping £1 coins into the machine in order to finish it! Instead, you can simply sit at home and play it over and over again to your heart's content. But what is it about Confidential Mission that makes it so good? Let me explain..... Confidential Mission sees you taking the role of either Howard or Jean who are government agents sent out to infiltrate enemy bases and stop the enemy from taking over the world! You'll need more than just a gun to survive though. In order to do well you must have super-fast reactions and the ability to intelligently dispose of your enemy in the most efficient way possible. What I mean by this is that you must look at the circular display that surrounds each of the enemy and decifer which is going to shoot first. This can be done simply looking at the display and if it is going red, that enemy is about to shoot wheras a green display would mean that enemy is not going to shoot yet. It sounds complicated but believe me, its simple to get used to. If you've played Virtua Cop then you'll know what to expect. Each enemy only takes one shot to kill but a skilled player will try to shoot the enemy's gun from their hand. This is called a Justice Shot and you get a lot more points by doing this shot as opposed to shooting the enemy in the belly! The points you get is what makes Confidential Mission so playable over and over again. Trying to beat your last score is half of the fun and doing this with your mates is top fun and makes the game a perfect social game. On the subject of 'mates', you can play this game in 2 player mode with 2 guns for fantastic co-operative gameplay. This really is the height of gaming enjoyment and you MUST experience it! You don't have to own two guns though as the controller can be used but using guns does make it a lot more 'authentic'. As well as the Arcade mode, Confidential Mission features an Original mode which is the same as the arcade mode but with slight gameplay variations which make it very playable. You can collect power-ups as you progress which can be used in the next game that include being able to permanantly use top weapons such as Assault Rifles! There is also a training mode which features various training rituals including 'shoot the enemy' which sees you trying to react in super-quick time by shooting the enemy as opposed to the hostage. There are many more modes that I can't go into here but take it from me, they are all really fun and seriously challenging. Some of them will really test your gun-toting abilities. As I have mentioned previously, the game's presentation is fantastic. The graphics supplied by the powerful NAOMI graphics board are exceptionally smooth and detailed and the animation of the people on screen is brilliant and realistic. Sound-wise the game is good too with some spy movie style music that also takes stuff from action films too. I won't go into the plot as not to spoil it but I can tell you that it takes ideas from action films such as the James Bond films and Mission:Impossible. Overall, this game is a top Dreamcast title worthy of purchase by any Dreamcast owner. If you've been looking for another reason to use your lightgun since House of the Dead 2 then this is more than it. Everyone should play this classic Sega title and appreciate its qualities. Well, what do expect from Sega's Hitmaker, the creators of Virtua Tennis and Crazy Taxi. Fantastic!

Has been bettered, 2001-06-01 Still a great game and well worth the money, but driving games have moved on since this was released. TOCA World Touring Cars took it one step further, and how can you overlook either of the Gran Turismo games.
