Easy and fault free upgrade to Mini Mac with Tiger, 2008-04-13
I started over a year ago with a Mini Mac with a Tiger operating system and then subsequently added an I-Mac and Notebook with Leopard pre- installed. So I found myself having to accept the need for an upgrade especially with the ability to better network all our domestic computers using Leopard.

The result was a painless and hassle free upgrade unlike one other Review submission - I have also not found the slow running commented on by others which given I am using the lower end of the Apple range, seems to indicate they may possibly have other usage or memory/RAM issues with their specific machines under the upgrade.

The many features and improvements in Leopard are commented on fully under under Reviews - suffice to say it is not 100% perfect but certainly in the high 90s and compared with the universal problems on Windows launch of Vista (one of the key reasons I experimented with Apple in the first place) I am very happy.

The only problem (as with all Apple OS) is that you get little guidance free and so you will need to budget for purchase of the Missing Manual series on Leopard in understanding the many features and timesaving shortcuts and tricks possible.

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum V20 (Mac/PC)

Great for getting your typing speed up to scratch, 2008-11-04
I'm very impressed with Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum V20. I learned how to type more years ago than I care to remember on an old manual typewriter, and that was no fun and it was often very painful! Using the Mavis Beacon software to brush up my skills is very enjoyable and certainly not painful though. :D

Since I already know how to type I can't really comment on how good the software is for learning from scratch, but I suspect that it would be very good indeed. It's certainly good for people like me who just fancy a bit of a refresher or to work on overall speed and accuracy.

The software came in a nice cardboard sleeve, which makes a change from the ubiquitous DVD cases, and it installed easily and quickly for me on a system running Windows XP. Once installed it was very easily configured to suit me. From installation to being up and running on one of the typing exercises was a matter of a few minutes. The minimum requirements are very low, so if you have a machine that can run Vista, or even anything that can run XP without wheezing you'll have no problem running this.

The lessons and exercises are quite fun, and the games are enjoyable. I must comment on the background music as well, the default music that came up for me was some nice gentle jazz, which brought a smile to my face. There's other music to choose from if that's not to your tastes, and you can even use your own music if you fancy it.

So overall I'm definitely very happy with Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum V20. It's pleasant and fun to use, and it genuinely does improve your typing speed and accuracy.

I have installed McAfee Security Suite 2008 on my Windows Vista Home Premium Dell Computer. I am getting Windows Security Allert that Virus Protection is not found on this Computer. When I reported this to McAfee, I was told to take some steps among which was to rename repository. Eventhough I was running as Administrator, I was not able to rename repository receiving "Access Denied". When I reported this to McAfee, I was told to go to Microsoft. When I reported this to Microsoft, I was told that they could not help me in third party software.This being McAfee product, McAfee should help me. But they do not.Each one is shifting responsibility on the other.

Rescue Your Videotapes

Does exactly what it says if you have the system requirements it states, 2008-10-25
I installed this on my machine with the system requirements matching what it states on this product and it works great, had tons of old vhs recordings of bbq's and such like from my teen years and its been hilarious to get them off the tapes and up onto Youtube/facebook etc so thanks Magix. No problems with syncing at all! (Just remember to have a machine powerful enough (read the system requirements) and hey presto! no problem!

The driving school we use told us to get a copy of this book as there is no better on the market. They were correct. Everything a learner could possibly need to know is in here. Don't let its size put you off of tackling it because it's laid out in such an easy to read manner. It includes the Highway Code as well, so there is no need to buy any other books once you have this one. In fact, all we need to buy now is a CD Rom for practising the theory test and we'll be off to a promising start. Wish us luck!
