The best Windows to date, 2010-03-09
Windows 7 Home Premium is much better than Vista Home Premium and is defintely better than Windows XP. Windows 7 offers better network security with Homegroup which lets you share, music, videos, document and even printers with other users on your network with a option of a password to keep files secure. For e-mail, photogallery and moviemaker there is a replacement called Windows Live essentials that you can download from Microsoft for free. The most annoying feature in Vista has been toned down in 7 and is less annoying and easier to control. My personal favourite thing in Windows 7 is the option of removing Internet Explorer 8 from your computer and replaying with a different web browser without damaging Windows 7 in the process, you can also do the same with Windows Media Player but I would recommend keeping it on your system just in case you need to convert a music file. I would highly recommmend this to any home user who is still stuck with Vista or XP. Please note XP users will have to backup all their files and perform a custom install of Windows, however if you have a lot of programs which rely on XP you should pay a bit extra and buy Windows 7 Professional as you get virtual pc and Windows XP Mode which is XP within your 7 installation. Also those with a usb modem on XP does not work in Vista or 7. Before considering buying Windows 7 check with the upgrade advisor that your computer can run Windows 7.

At last a fix for Vista, 2010-03-14
A lot of people had problems with Vista. I had a lot less than most, but it was a real resource hog and lots of software was incompatible with it, especially as I used 64 bit. I bought the upgrade which came with a 32bit and a 64bit disc. I'm glad I did as my Netgear Wifi adapter wouldn't work with 64bit so I had to use 32bit for a week or so whilst I seeded out a replacement for 64bit. It didn't take long, and now I am running fine on W7 64 bit.

The first thing you notice is how it takes up less RAM to run and looks nicer. The new taskbar system in Aero is much improved and the "peek at desktop" utility is nice. Snapping makes life easier when viewing and using 2 documents at the same time, and the Action Centre is a nice touch that informs you of problems your computer currently has.

However, what I have found is that pretty much anything will run on it with and without compatability modes. I've not had a crash yet. It is, as many have already said, what Vista should have been. Many, including myself feel that having to pay again to get rid of Vista is a bit much but if you can put it behind you it is worth getting.

I have used this product before and decided to get a version for my home use. It has greatly improved from the earlier versions. The product is well worth the money, it is well packaged and the delivery service was excellent.

Norton Internet Security is widely rated by IT mags as current best of the crop - effective against malware and light on use of system resources. I switched to Norton from ZoneAlarm Suite last year (after trying McAfee and not getting on with it) and am glad I did.

If you want Norton Utilities too, this is a great package, combining the two products at a good saving. Otherwise, stick with the standard Norton Internet Security or, especially for less experienced users, choose Norton 360 V4 which hides the complexity and can be pretty much left to its own devices.

I saw a good review of this product in Computer Shopper, but was a little concerned that my PC may struggle being a few years old (2.8GHz). However I need not have worried, it works really well and does not seem to cause too much of a hit on the system. Highly recommended.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 (PC DVD)

Fantastic & a must for photographers,, 2010-03-12
I tried lots of the other makes for long time which were no good or to difficult to use, photoshop 8 isn't easy to use either but there is so much help out there on the web that you can learn different things as you go along. I would recommend that you buy this if you are serious about photography.
