I used two in my 3 story 5 flats Victorian house. They have done a good job! I now intend to buy two more to get complete coverage. I used the setting 'continuous'.I just left it on permanently. Maybe I could try 'random' as well, who knows?

These cat beds are a great idea, but i have to ask whether they are really necessary. My cat sucks all the heat out of the room anyway. Yesterday I was making ice cream and I didnt need to put it in the freezer. I got my cat to sit near it for 10 minutes and she froze it for me by sucking all the heat from it
