How trashy does the description of this thing sound?, 2008-09-29
I heard about this lamp and dismissed it as a trashy cheap sounding toy, but I was in Dublin recently and saw one in operation in a philips shop. It was actually kind of nice and because you can turn down the intensity of the colours a lot, it really manages to create a lot of different moods.

When I got it back home it was even better, in the evenings, in our white painted apartment, it could totally transform the look of the place. Light blues, deep greens, or hellish deep red, whatever the colour or intensity you want with the remote it only takes seconds to get it.

The lamp is nice and heavy, although a little top heavy, and the guy in the shop told me there was a stand for it but there was nothing in the box. The design is very Apple, and the remote is gorgeous even on it's own, with the glossy white finish and round spectrum to play with. It's also not infra-red, so you don't need line of sight with it.

I thought the price was pretty high, but now I'm starting to convince myself that one or two more wouldn't be such a bad purchase. Very recommended!

i purchased this light to change my baby's nappies in the dark - turned out to be the best gadget i've bought in years. the light given off is sufficient to read by (change nappies etc) without lighting the whole room, it weighs almost nothing and clips onto a book without getting in the way, the bendy neck is really flexible and the light can stand without being clipped to anything. only annoyance is that i saw the same light in a shop today for £8.99.

We saw a similar product on holiday in Turkey, so I sought out these Philips LED Rechargeable Candle Lights on my return last year and shall be buying them for others as Christmas gifts this year.

They look so pretty when "lit". You literally just turn them upside down to turn on or off. Great idea if you like candles but have children around.

The tank is easy to set up, but don't miss the 'washing-up liquid' bit.
Then after around 24 hours, any little bubbles that have appeared, should have dissolved.

(If you don't add a spot of 'washing-up liquid' the bubbles don't dissapear, and stick to your jellyfish making them stick near the top of the tank.)

I put a little couloured fish-tank gravel in the bottom of my tank, which helps reflect the light back up.

This is really cool. It would make a great gift for anyone especially the eco-conscious. It looks unusual, is a talking point for guests and it saves on electricity. I might get a few more and make a feature of them. You can even use them outside as they are waterproof.

Rainbows are great, especially when you can have one in your room. However, this little piece of kit uses a silver foil mirror and some LEDs to produce a rainbow only in the darkest rooms. In short, it is is very much an under-powered toy. If you think your kids will be skipping under rainbows, think again unless you live in a cave and pitch black is guaranteed.

A well made piece of kit that does exactly what it is supposed to. For instant illumination in a small cupboard or corner, at a low price and with zero fitting problems, you would be very hard pushed to find a better product.

It is a great product, and I'm very impressed with it, however the £14 cost from Amazon is very salty indeed. After receiving it through the post I did a search on google for exactly the same item and found other sites selling them for less than £5!
