One of my most used kitchen appliances....., 2007-10-03 Firstly, this is more than just being another ordinary kitchen appliance. It's just so versatile if you need to use it say in a caravan or for a self-catering holiday. Most of us know that the selection of equipment is so often inadequate in many holiday cottages etc. Taking this cooker solves all that simply because of it's versatility.
I don't like having to clean too many things when I'm cooking, so unless were having rice/pasta or a roast joint of meat, I nearly always use my Prestige cooker when making a meal.
In the end, I'd agree it's down to personal choice, but I certainly have no qualms about giving this Kitchen Top Electric Cooker a well deserved 5 star recommendation. Either way, a highly useful and useful piece of kitchen equipment to own.

Sold, 2007-11-21 As somebody who has bought so many items for the kitchen and then ended up allowing them to collect dust due to non-use because they were the in thing at the time. I was a little dubious about purchasing yet another gadget which after a few months will get binned because I cant be asked to spend ages cleaning the damn thing after use.(I dont mind spending ages preparing the food, but cleaning???)
Well flatten my feet and call me Daffy This must be one of the easiest things to clean. I usually wash down the whole thing in minutes prior to eating. On that alone Im sold. Ill let the other reviewers inform you about how good it cooks.

Prestige Cook and Steam Steamer, 2008-01-18 This is absolutely the best piece of equipment in my kitchen! I have been a long term electric steamer fan, but this one is the Rolls Royce - ok it takes up a bit more room on the work surface but in the first week since it arrived I have hardly used my hob. Again, no timer but wow, everything else is superior to any steamer I have owned previously - I am taking it camping with me, electric hook up is now an essential! Buy it you won't regret it.

Great steamer, great price, 2007-12-15 This steamer is great. I thought it takes ages for water to start steaming etc., and I am positively surprised. After 1-2 min steamer is already working. After 20-30 min. all vegetables are cooked and you can enjoy your meal. Food taste great. Very easy to clean-just rinse under the tap and leave it to dry :) Just have to figure out how to cook rice and pasta.

Perfect rice everytime, 2007-12-01 I am really pleased with this rice cooker. It's very simple to use, basically you measure out how many cups of rice you want ie 1 cup per person, add the equivalent in water switch it on and wait about 10 mins and voila, perfect rice. You can also put your rice on to cook, leave it and then it will switch over to the keep warm function when it is ready so it doesn't burn, so if you need to pop out for an hour or so you can put it on before you leave and it is ready and waiting when you get back. I haven't really had any problems with it overflowing or leaving a starchy mess either...I usually only cook up to about 3 cups worth so maybe the problems occur if you cook larger quantities.

Great slow food, 2008-07-19 I'm a fan of slow cooking and have several slow cookers in various sizes. I see from other reviewers that this particular cooker has divided opinion. I find that this one performs very well and doesn't seem to me much different from other slow cookers in its level of heating. One thing I would say is that the recipe leaflet with the cooker doesn't mention slow roasting as one of the things that you can do in it. The booklet implies that everything has to be immersed in liquid. Ignore this. I roast all sorts of joints, such as rolled should of pork or lamb. Slow roasted duck legs are particularly succulent done this way (brown the skin a bit in a frying pan and then about and hour and a half on High followed by a couple of hours on Low). In general, it's very flexible about timing and you can juggle between heat settings. I tend to start early with an initial period at High or Medium for an hour or so then switch to Low at which most meat can very slowly cook for ages. Whole, small chickens are delicious slow-roasted, but use High for most of the time and preferably check that the thick part of the leg has reached over 80 degrees centigrade to kill off any salmonella. I've just experimented with some rather tough beef back ribs that are rather tough when roasted, fast in a conventional oven, but were very tender in this slow cooker. I browned them a bit (as a rack) in a frying pan and then transferred them the pre-heated slow-cooker with about 200ml of hot beef fat. Two hours on Medium, plus 2 hours on LOW: result, succulent beef ribs. I've done something similar with pork ribs.
I always pre-heat slow-cookers if I'm adding hot liquid or fat with the meat.

Top notch, 2008-10-15 As this gift was for my daughter, it's only fitting I give her the last word (and all the others you'll see below) for this review...
I have to say, I really like it!
I'm one of those people who's proud of the time they spend slaving away over a hot stove to bring together a huge meal for twelve all made from scratch. So, it's a bit of a weird feeling just putting the food in and leaving it! I mean, I don't even have to check it - which is nice, cos my glasses always get cloudy when opening the oven door.
It's very convenient, even more so if you're utilising the whole space and cooking a couple of meals, perhaps even different meals. So, if I want one chicken dish and another salmon it doesn't matter; no dashing between two pans, the oven and so on, it all goes in there, and there's plenty of space particularly with the extra black compartment boxes you can put in for sauces, rice etc.
I feel almost as though I'm not cooking, yet it's healthy, tasty, and doesn't involve a microwave (for me, these should only be used for some reheating, milk and popcorn).
The only thing that can be said against it (not so much against, just not as much for) is that when, like me, you're cooking for one and you don't always eat a lot, so you just feel like some steamed salmon and salad for example, the piece of salmon does look a little sad in that big machine on its own and it feels like a bit of a waste of water too. Maybe they could invent a mini version. But, but but but, I stress that this isn't really a downside as I do cook for other people too so I'm glad for it's extra space.
I am particularly impressed by being able to prepare sauces in it; I've never seen that function before on a steamer. In fact, I didn't know I could steam half the stuff that this thing can! It's a good machine, much more attractive than I've previously seen with steamers and more practical, easy to look after, easy to store away or would fit in on any work surface, and easy to use.
I mean, you just need to click the picture and go! It's very straightforward; I normally set five different alarms for the different components of my meals to try and get them all ready at once and there's still always one that's too early or a bit late, so I was both surprised and pleased to find how the Intellisteam completely eradicates that issue.
Thumbs up from me, a good investment, even if you're not time-strapped - you'll discover even more time, take up a hobby! Take a nap! Ooh, that reminds me - the icing on the cake; if you oversleep with your nap, maybe get too engrossed in your new hobby... s'all good, it keeps it warm for 40 minutes! That's pretty good in my books.

No turning back, 2007-08-12 Once you have used a steamer to cook you won't ever want to use saucepans ever again. It is effortless and leaves the food tasting much nicer and not soggy. It is nearly impossible to over steam anything. A+
