I Am Very Glad With This Mouse, 2008-09-27 I got this mouse for my laptop because my touch pad kept on freezing.
And I have to say it's not something i am going to regret anytime soon.
It's quite, the roller is not stiff, you don't need to shove it. It's a very attractive well designed mouse.
Overall 5/5

Acer
What a bargain!, 2008-12-02 The is the best budget value laptop I have seen in a while. Acer, who are becoming more reliable, and popular and selling this machine ridiculously cheap. With a good sized screen, the machine copes well with a good processor, intel core 2 duo, and with more than enough RAM to run windows vista premium edition. This however can be upgraded if needed in future, with a new RAM memory for about £20 per GB. The hard disk has 250GB memory, but after windows being loaded on etc, it comes to about 238GB. Still more than enough though. However, like myself who almost got caught out, making a back up disk is essential. I recommend that this is the first thing you should do out of the box as it does not come with one.
This is a very good value laptop and is still relatively up to date in terms of laptops.

Acer Aspire 8GB version and the 120GB hard drive version, 2008-11-13 I bought 2 Acer Aspire one for the little one, which was the 8GB solid state version and the 120GB hard drive version for me. Both look well and came with Linux pre-installed. Both machine booted up quickly and the 120GB was the first to check for updates and there was quick a few to updates to download and it did take an hour or so to complete. I had to manually start the update for the 8GB version with no fuss.
My daughter was happy with the fact that she could down load music and the sound, for such a small machine, was quite clear crisp. both machines are light to carry. Im glad i made the right choise.
Very good machine for the price

I have tried compatible inks and they are just not the same so if you want quality ok a little more pricey but stick with the original epson ink.

Acer
Outstanding piece of kit, 2008-10-15 A standard sized laptop, larger screen and the same spec would cost you the same if not more...
The Acer one is a superb machine, battery life is about 2.5 hrs on full charge and is light as a feather.
This one came with Linux which i immediately got rid off and installed my own copy of xp sp3 via usb key.
Upon doing this the laptop is much more functional and overall an excellent device.
I was considering Eeepc but i felt they looked kind of.. toy ish? the acer definately has the looks.
The keyboard is great to use, all keys in their correct places and sized great, it is rare i make a mistake whilst typing on it.
The cooling fan can get quite noisy for such a small device, it blows cold air half the time and like some others have done i may get some software to cut down this noise.
I use it in university for taking notes, for typing up essays whilst at work and in my spare time. Accessing the internet via wifi and soon mobile broadband. Just use it generally for communicating with others that i dont use my mobile phone for.
Webcam and microphone work spectacularly for a 0.3 mpixel, used on msn & skype and works a treat.
Headphones and audio jacks work great, wifi is great (all be it wireless G), ethernet / usb everything works great.
Resolution is comfortable to look at, screen viewing angle is very good for a laptop in this price range.
Overall id recommend it to virtually anyone looking for a second pc? sub laptop or just for the cool factor :)
This laptop can dual boot fine also.

Amazing power and portability for the price!! Highly Recommend, 2008-11-06 Bought one of these from a red-and-blue supermarket chain, only because I didnt have to wait for delivery; the price was exactly the same!
Out of the box, it runs pretty smoothly. Im used to using UNIX at work, but found this version of LINUX a bit restrictive, to be honest. There are a few tweaks out there to unlock the GUI (www.aspireoneuser.com) to give you the oppurtunity to install your own packages.
BUT WAIT: I have since installed Windows XP onto mine! Yes, it can be done via USB (with a little tweaking, google "Install XP via USB" and a youtube video of XP being installed on an aspire one) or via a USB DVD-ROM. Performace in XP is just as good as Linux, after a bit of playing. The main drawback is the write speed of the internal SSD. I think its about 3MB/sec !! Compare that to a standard HD (min 20MB/sec!). You really feel this as XP uses a swapfile. But if you disable this, then the system flies. Ive even removed the XP "fisher price" looks to get even better performance.
Windows boots up in about 15 seconds from cold. Or use hibernation for a 5 second boot.
You can also install a utility to improve the fan noise (yes the fan does whine a bit in Linux and XP). But this new tool turns it off until the CPU temp gets to around 65 degress. Since then no lock ups. No slow downs. No fan noise!!! A totally silent, Windows XP netbook!
Highly recommend at this price, even if you use Linux. But be aware that you can install XP!
