An underwater camera for less than £50. I've used mine twice scuba diving in Egypt. It's only certified to 15m but it didn't implode at 21m (oops). The pictures can be a little shakey so hold very still or rest on something. Fantastic in video mode. Buy decent batteries, an absolute must.
Also, very important removed the memory card when returning home. Someone stole mine out of my suitcase!!!!! But I love it so much, I'm buying another one

I've had this camera for 18 months now and it has proved an excellent buy. For the money the quality of picture is very good both underwater and above. I have managed to get some great underwater shots without having to pay for expensive casing. It has been used underwater quite a bit and is still going strong.

I would say it is a second camera, I wouldn't choose to use it unless I was intending to use it underwater as the buttons are a bit robust, but that is a necessity to allow it to be waterproof.

I have had no issues with loading onto my computer and I would recommend this to anyone who fancies a dabble with underwater shots.

i bought this purely for the waterproof case included because i like swimming and it will be great for the summer.
for 5 megapixels (used to 7-12 megapixels with my 2 finepix cams) this gives great quality images. the video quality is also good. the camera itself is small, and very very light.
the reason for the four stars is that it isn't useable in low lighting; the images are dark and blurry.

i can't fault it otherwise and for the price, anyone who wants a cheap and cheerful camera should get one, especially as it comes with the waterproof case (feels strong and could easily take a battering).

I decided to get this camera at the last minute as a Christmas present for my 7 year old, who loves taking pictures, or literally anything. However, she is clumsy and I didn't want to buy an expensive digital camera in case she did break it. As I thought, she went crazy on Christmas Morning taking pictures of everything and everyone. And when I had a look at the photos on my computer later that night, I was really amazed by the quality. I experimented with the flash on and off, the pictures are great with the flash on, and are not too bad when you are in a lighted area when the flash is off.

I would then recommend this camera to anyone, who is considering buying one for a young child. It comes complete with wrist strap, which is very handy, a leather pouch, usb cable, 3 batteries, and discs for the computer. Its is also very light, unlike other cameras. I am very pleased with this product.

The delivery was also next day.

Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5 Good features in a small package, 2008-08-30
Get real. This is a full 8 mega-pixel camera for under £45, so it can't be great, can it? Well, it's not bad. There are compromises, but they're few and well thought out. If the compromises don't matter too much to you, this camera really isn't bad at all.

The ViviCam 8370 comes with a fabric case, wrist strap, and software and a cable to transfer images to your computer or printer, although picture transfer is quicker using an SD card directly via an SD slot or USB adaptor.

The first thing to note is its plastic rather than metal body - but it's nicely made, robust enough, and certainly doesn't look 'cheap'. In the hand, the 8370 physically is more compact than most, and yet has all the automatic and manual settings and features you'd normally expect - including 3 x optical and 5 x digital zoom and features such as face recognition. Even an `auction' setting for capturing those crucial ebay product shots without resizing is included. As far as I could see, the only useful feature omitted is the ability to stabilise a fast moving image or shaky hand on slower shutter speeds in less than perfect light conditions where longer exposure times are necessary.

What differentiates this model from most - making it smaller and cheaper than many of similar capability - is that it uses the lower cost, more compact, more power efficient yet slightly inferior image quality of a CMOS sensor rather than the slightly better CCD imaging technology. But it's only a marginal drop in quality (it's still an 8MP image after all), and, aside from the LCD screen not being equal to the very best either, it's still more than good enough for virtually all applications and a well judged cost-saving trade-off in my view.

The ViviCam 8370 uses 2 standard AA batteries (rather than a rechargeable Lithium battery), and so the first complaint you'll usually get is "poor battery life" from the minority who expect miracles. As with any AA battery powered camera, a pair of high-power Ni-MH rechargeable batteries will be essential. Of course, if you do suddenly run short of power away from home, a couple of fresh AA batteries are never far away to get you out of trouble - although a spare set of Ni-MH are cheap and small enough to allow you to keep shooting the action whilst your friends are frantically trying to find a socket to recharge their Lithiums. So the limitations are, in everyday use, not really limiting at all, and may actually be a benefit.

And it gets better. The real bonuses with this Vivicam are the software and media options. The supplied software does work with Windows Vista (some don't), and the SD slot supports a full 4GB SDHC card giving more than 1600 shots in full 8MP high-resolution mode. Many far more expensive and more recent pocket-sized cameras won't accommodate a full 4GB card, and even fewer an "HC" (high capacity) one, which can also offer faster write speeds so you're on to your next shot quicker.

If you can live with the `slightly less than the best' image and LCD screen quality, you're prepared to invest a couple of pounds in a set or two of high-power rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries, and can take full advantage of the superior storage and speed of a full 4GB high capacity card (now under £8), this ViviCam 8370 really is a pretty good buy for the money: You'll be able to keep shooting long after your friends' bulkier, more expensive, similarly specified, yet ultimately less able cameras' SD cards are full and their rechargeable Lithium batteries have died. Nice one Vivitar!

This is a great little camera. It's very light and compact.
The features are basic, but the image is good quality.
I used mine for underwater shots (using the housing) and it was perfect. (I have uploaded the shots on amazon)
It can be a little slow, but for the price it is brilliant. It's easy to use and has a powerful flash.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting a camera for holiday shots or snorkelling/diving.

I have now bought 3 of these, one for myself and two for the business I work for. The question of what can it do- the answer is practically everything you could want from a camera. I paid £39.99 for mine.

What's in the box - The camera, rechargeable battery, remote control, camera pouch, USB cable, AV cable, earbuds, foam earbud covers, CD (Drivers, editing software) quickstart guide, owners Manual, warrantee.

You will need to purchase a 2 GB SD card. The cameras on board memory is minimal, just over a minute video, the card gives you ove 1200 still or 1 hour 30 minutes high quality MPEG 4 video. Cost me £3.50 each.

The camera quality is very good. You turn it on by opening the LCD screen and off by closing the screen. The screen can turn and pivot every which way. The camera has a flash, macro and landscape modes, motion sensor (3 seconds movement to trigger the camera or lack of stop it in that mode) and you can select motion stabilisation, resolution etc.

The quality is brilliant even in poor lighting conditions. What I was very pleased with was the Arcsoft edting software which allows you to produce videos with stills, add soundtracks, captions, voice overs etc to a very good standard.

Very few niggles - the buttons take a little getting used to and it is relatively easy to have to selects the mode twice or take a video rather than a still but after 2 or three outings it gets easier. The flash is small and not fantastic and you can get bounce. It is difficukt to get the file conversion software to make a DVD. I think it can but I have struggled so far.

For the price I paid, the 550 with the rechargeable battery this is a best buy!

This is what I chose as my very first digital camera. I wanted something cheap, easy to operate but cute and stylish. This camera delivers for me.

It's pink, it comes with a soft case and a waterproof case which looks like fun and I might try it when snorkelling on holiday next week! I did by a separate 1mg SD card on the advice of a geekier friend and I'm glad I did, the memory needs a little boost if you are taking pictures on the highest quality settings.

The perfect girly camera :o)
