Veho VMS-001, 20-200x Magnification USB Digital Microscope , 2008-12-15 Veho VMS-001, 20-200x Magnification USB Digital Microscope
A excellent bit of kit if you are moderately computer literate.
The manual both in electronic and hard copy form is pretty lousy.
The 20x to 200x variable magnification does exist but the manuals do not tell you that the preview must be set to to 680 X 480 to achieve it.
I found the answer to this on the trouble shooting area of the veho website. It should be in the manuals by now, please note veho!.

- Scan your old Negatives and slides to PC
- USB connection - no expernal PSU needed
- Fast one touch scanning
- 5 mega pixel high resoltion scanning
- Colourbright picture enhancement technology
What it says on the tin..., 2008-12-20 Well, I hope I can resolve the clash between the lovers and haters of this item. This is a basic product for those who want to digitise a whole bunch of snaps and are not precious about the quality. If what is important to you are the memories a photo brings back and you have a whole bunch of negatives to crunch through then this is for you as long as you are happy to trade quality for speed. If not, buy the top-end Plustek with all the bells and whistles. If you have a lot of negatives to do though, you'll have to wait until you retire and have enough time to scan them all!

Only good for a couple of months, 2008-10-22 I bought one of these a couple of months ago and it worked perfectly - reading an writing was speedy. It worked right out of the box on my EeePC and my laptop needed a driver update but it ultimately worked. However, yesterday I couldn't transfer files to it even though there was enough space. Inexplicably, there was a mysterious 3GB file with lexicons in the filename. When I tried to format it through Windows disk management software, through the command prompt or with third party software it failed to format. When I put it back it told me I needed to format it but again it failed to format and this happened in other computers and memory card readers. I may have only paid just over £10 for mine but I'd rather not pay that kind of money for something that turns out to be a booster seat for a Lego minifig in 2 months. I won't be buying one of these again.

- Compact but Powerful Desktop Fan
- USB Powered
- Built in 4 port USB Hub
- AA Battery alternative for away from PC
Good fan, bad USB hub, 2008-10-11 Anything for this price wont be able to handle 4 USB ports properly, and there's no exception with this. Anything mildly power hungry thats plugged into one of the fan's USB ports will freeze and totally stop your PC sometimes. For smaller items like memory sticks it can do the job OK - even then i would recommend a 4 or 7 port USB hub for a few quid extra.
As a fan, its great. Its black which is a colour i like, it has a big button in the center to turn it on and off. The spine can be bent to position it where you want (although it is a bit rigid sometimes), and the blades are made from soft rubber or something so it wont take your arm off if you hit it by accident. It doesnt make a lot of noise which is good.
The only thing i hate is that after a clean black finish, the USB wire is a very sick shiny grey colour which sort of ruins it.
Overall 4/5

Worth the effort!, 2008-12-31 Very good, after struggling with the software. I had to maually download the scanner. Veho help site useless, no mention of this model that I could find. A good product let down by it's software and customer service.
My results excellent after processing with Windows Picture Gallery. I have Vista.Dennis.

- SD, SDHC, Micro SD, All Sony memory stick plus more
- Built in Sim card back up - back up all your contacts and pictures
- USB 1.1 & 2.0

Great Value, 2008-11-12 Great little gadget here, no problems setting up and using. Very cost effective way to back up all the stuff on your mobile. The software for the sim back up is a little primitive but what do you expect for so little money. If you go on to Veho's website you can download the full manual which makes it easier to understand
