Absolutely a bargain, bought two not one!, 2008-08-30
I am the owner of 4 other pairs of the earphones. I will comment on these pairs with E818LP model so that you can get a feel when you make your choice.
I bought two pairs of E818LP from Amazon.co.uk, not from the marketplace.

The sound is very impressive. I would say I would pay as much as GBP18 for such a pair.

I previously used a E808 model from a Sony MD player, and I love the sound it produced, and it was definitely an all-rounder. The bass is OK, middle range is smooth and full, and high tone is also very clear and not too weak. But that pair was eventually broken after sever years usage. When I discovered there was no E808 sold anywhere, I chose to get a pair of this, which is the closest to the E808. I was right! That one is exactly as good as that pair.

Comparing with other pairs I have at the moment,
AKG K26P:
AKG is sharper and clearer,but the pressure exerted on the ears prevent from prolonged period of listening, and more expensive.

Creative Aurvana X-Fi Noise Cancelling Headphones:
Creative's noise cancelling is really really good, however the price over GBP 100 doesn't justify that the sound quality is no much better than E818LP!

Koss PortaPro - High Quality Sound Stereophone:
This pair has much stronger bass than 818, good for watching movies, but similar to AKG, pressure exerted on ears prevents prolonged usage

Creative Labs EP-630/A Earphones:
No match to 818, absolutely waste of money. I dislike the ear-tunnel type, because the only effect you can expect is the enlargement of the sound produced by your teeth chewing a gum or an apple!

All in all, for such a nice price, if you have the 60 pound, you should buy ten pairs of this.

BTW, for those who have iPod, I can ensure you this pair is much much better than the original pair with iPod.

Finally, good luck for your earphone-hunting, I have found my treasure!

This is great - it really does charge batteries in 15mins. Fast charger that is easy to use. It is not a silent machine as it has a fan to cool down the batteries but in the time it takes to make a cup of tea it has charged the batteries inside. No more having to wait overnight or finding the batteries are not charged ever again and you can't use them for ages. Well worth the money - have already bought one for my brother too.

After using my Samsung 1GB MP3 player (very basic pen drive style) for a couple of years, I decided that I was going to give myself a Christmas treat and get myself a new MP3 player with a bit more memory. I'm not a technophobe but I have never been interested in all the "hi tech" features that newer players have. I looked around and found the Sony NWZ-E436FB 4GB Drag & Drop MP4 Video Player with FM tuner in Black. It was a reasonable price as my Husband had bought a 2GB MP3 player for the same price 3 months back. After receiving it in the post at 9am, by 10am I had put all my songs on there. I didn't even have to look at the manual as it is so straight forward and easy to use. The display and menu system is very much like a mobile phone and very well set out. I had never used BBC iPlayer before, and after discovering that I could download and add them to the player I did so and it was very simple and ended up watching BBC's Hole in the wall in bed that evening! The one con I found with the MP3 Player is that it uses half a GB for the operating system it has which does limit the amount of music, videos and pictures that you can place on there. Apart from that issue, the MP3 player is a winner and I would highly recommend it to all that enquire!

Straight out of the box you quickly see you have a stylish and high quality HD camcorder. I have not yet bought an HD TV but wanted to use the latest HD technology when capturing Christmas, days out and birthdays. As detailed in the manual the camcorder easily connects to any TV over scart or RBG and scales down the output for 'normal' TVs.

Capturing recordings to the hard drive is as a one click operation. The 15x optical zoom is smooth and the LCD shows the recording in a crisp and clear window.

Transferring the HD files to a PC or laptop is easy with the free Sony Picture Motion Browser software, just install the software and connect the Sony docking station to the USB cable and connect to a free USB port on your PC. The software makes importing a piece of cake and you can burn straight to DVD or convert the HD file to MPEG or Windows WMV for easy sharing.

The box includes an ac adapter, handy cam docking station with A/V, power and USB sockets, a USB cable, 2 cdroms, a component A/V cable and a standard A/V cable. You will be up and running in no time. The only extra purchase I made was the Sony LCS-BBA soft carry case which is perfect for the HDR-SE10E.

I read before I purchase the HD camcorder that you can hear the hard disk while recording. This is not the case on the model I have, recording is instant, no tapes to manage or rewind and not a sound from the hard disk while recording.

I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this HD handy cam to anyone interested in moving from tape recording formats to 1080p HD recordings.

Can I also recommend buying Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum which retails at around £40.00. With this you can edit the HD movies in a time line, edit multiple types of video file format and build great DVDs. The software offers a great deal more than Picture Motion Browser.

Exactly what I wanted for a decent price and a Sony original. , 2008-08-12
Fact: I have tried 'compatible' batteries from Amazon Market Place. For me they did not work and were returned. This Sony original was my last hope. Since I have first used it I have not had one seconds problem.

For me the compatible route was a mistake as, for me, they discharged far too quickly and did not give me notice of their demise - they just ran out.

This Sony original (as a back up for the original I have) works great.

By all means give the compatibles a go, if it works stick with them. I have spent as much money trying 3 compatibles - I should have just purchased this from the start. I will not make the same mistake again - I will go the original route from the off.

Super piece of kit for not alot of money..., 2008-12-15
I opted for EH35HD after doing as most people do and browsing the high street, having a go on a few different units then reading lots of online reviews. Many online reviews bleat on for ages about slow firmware, difficulty in playing complete albums in sequence, poor DAB reception and poor music to HDD transfer speed.

I find that the HDD player works fine - you can play an album, shuffle albums, shuffle entire HDD. Ipod dock (included) also works faultlessly as you would expect, so to the CD, USB memory connection.

One great feature, especially for new CDs with track listing not contained ith the on-board database, is the function to plug in your USB memory and transfer data to your PC which automatically, searches the online Gracenote database. Then simply, plug it back into the unit and everything updated. Very useful.

Yes, it does take a while to rip a CD (3-5 mins on average), but then again once its done thats it. You need never put the CD in the player again, so its really no life altering hardship, is it???

Yes, it can take the unit several seconds to initially boot up to begin with. BUT. If this really is THAT much of a concern, you need to be out skydiving/saving the world/whatever instead of wasting valuble seconds listening to music! ;-)

No, its doesn't have zillions of options and settings like its big brother to fiddle with, but it sounds great, so who cares and this is £300 cheaper.

The DAB reception is perfectly fine in my area and works well with the included 'poor' aerial...

At the end of the day, you are paying not alot for a system that, sounds great (no Wembly Stadium but also not as EXPENSIVE!!!), looks great and does everything that its supposed to really well.

Ah, and you can hide/burn/jump on ALL those nasty,cluttering,shelf bowing CDs away aswell - easily worth it for that alone!!!!!

All in all, very glad I bought this and wish I'd got it sooner!

Great point and shoot compact!, 2008-10-05
This is a great compact camera. It just sits on your palm snugly. The camera looks and feels solid but not too heavy in the pocket. It is also fast and responsive when taking pictures. The quality of the picture is beyond expectation from a point and shoot compact. If you are the regular SLR user but get fed up with the bulky camera then this compact camera would be the great alternative. The viewing LCD is big without the touch screen which is great as the touch screen would eventually get 'tired' and unresponsive with use anyway.
All the ISO associated noise etc are all common problems with any compacts anyway but in day to day 5x7 prints and web use, it gives really great pictures.
There is even a histogram too!
After using it a for a while, my wife loves it so much. She wants to add that it sits in the handbag really well without taking too much space among her other things (goodness knows what else she put in her handbags). The slideshow which can be shown on TV is pretty impressive.

Sony DAV-IS50 - 5.1 ch - Home Cinema System with Rear Wireless Speakers

The DAV-IS50 Home Cinema system is a superb bit of kit and is aesthetically really pleasing. I'm delighted with mine. The 5.1 sound is unbelievable when you consider the size of the speakers. Not quite as easy to set up as described, but not particularly difficult. Couple of things to consider:

1. The S-Air Wireless system that comes with this essentially means that you've got a radio wave link from the SubWoofer/Amp to another amp that you place at the back of the room. The rear speakers then connect with wires from the secondary amp, so it's not quite as wireless as the advert leads you to think;

2. The system can be used as wireless (as per point 1, above) or wired. The cables are included in the box, as is the S-AIR system, which you need to set up [dead-easy, just a case of slotting in the transmitter and receiver]

3. The Subwoofer is massive. It delivers excellent sub-bass, bass and middle but you need it to be visible to avoid losing the mid-range frequencies. Did I mention it's massive?

4. The "golf ball" speakers are excellent, and incredibly small. The wall brackets are included in the box.

5. There's no SCART out - it's set up for HDMI and if you're a luddite with a perfectly good CRT TV [as I am], you will need either RGB inputs on your telly or get an RGB to SCART adaptor.

6.the auto calibration is done via a microphone [included] and is very easy.

As I've said, I really like mine and if you're looking for an "all-in one box" set up, without having masses of cabling running the length of the room, I reckon it's hard to beat.
