Great Sound and Performance for the money, 2009-01-06 These fones offer fantastic sound and deep, powerful bass without distortion. They also stay on perfectly whilst running and can be wiped down after a work out. They're great at higher volumes and are comfortable to wear for long periods - what more do you want?! and they're dirt cheap :o)

Very good earphone for the price, 2008-12-11 I must admit that sound on this tiny earphone is well above what you may expect from an earphone of this size and at this price level. I found very balanced sound on all frequencies, if you choose the right silicon earbud for your ear to isolate outside noise, you will notice much improvement of the bass, which would have been absent before, this apply to all inner ear earphones, as the sound isolation improves Bass considerably.
One complain, you cannot distiguish the right and left phone without reading the tiny L and R letter which is so small and difficult to see for some us, so mark your phone with whatever mean. other than that it is a joy to listen to it.

- Hand-selected matched driver elements
- High power neodymium magnets deliver maximum efficiency
- Lightweight aluminum voice coils for very fast transient response
Breathtaking clarity and presence, 2008-09-03 I've tried many headphones over the years - but the HD650's have a breathtaking clarity and presence which is truly remarkable. They don't add to the sound - they let the music breathe very naturally.
The accuracy of what these stunning headphones deliver - the clear, fast bass, accurate mid (no muddiness or over-emphasis of vocals) and extended treble - is something no other headphone I've bought gives - not even the HD595's, which I'd thought really, really good until I bought these. My 595's are now passed on to my brother to enjoy; and I can revel in the brilliant clarity and performance of the 650s.
I'm just blown away by them - and at this price from Amazon they are an absolute bargain.

- Cx 95 Style Earphone In - SENNHEISER - 500615
- Ear Canal design for superior sound quality & added bass performance
The Perfect Headphones, 2008-09-06 I've become increasingly aware of audio fidelity and this has made me fussy as to what I hear my music from. I thought I would upgrade my acceptable ipod classic earphones to something will more "isolation" from outside noise.
Put simply, the sound from these is incredible. After some testing, I found the largest ear-buds to be most effective at blocking outside noise and having a comfortable fit. This surprised me as I actually have small ear canals. But I guess what is important here when you use the silicone adapters is the outer ear, which needs to be as filled as possible.
Bass is deep and rumbling. Voices are clear. I wasn't shocked at the sound quality instantly, then realised it was because these earphones were producing in my head, what my Creative T20 speakers were producing on my laptop. I tried my old apple ipod headphones and noticed a lot of roughness and non-existant bass. Switching between the two made the CX95 sound incredible. It can REALLY handle all types of music. From Kanye West's late registration it controls the low bass, and with classical music, you can hear every instrument even at the very low volumes. For instance with Danny Elfmans Batman theme, the beginning 30 seconds is near inaudible on ipod earphones unless in a quiet quiet room. Hear the beginning can be heard without any volume adjustments throughout the whole track as I often need to do with classical music.
New music will unexpected effects such as gunshots may even make you jump as it did to me.
What others have said about the volume is correct. With my ipod earphones. I find myself turning up to 75% to hear my music. With these, I turn it down to about 40-50%. That's loud enough.
Finally the cabling. There have been many complaints, but I've found the cabling perfect! It's not too thin, and is quite wearing. It's short at about 60cm, but this makes it perfect for my usage. Inside a side jacket pocket or connected to a games console such as the psp. I dislike the "pull" you get from mp3 players in your trouser pocket, thus I never use it there. The short length means it rarely gets tangled or becomes unwieldy li.
Bear in mind the supplied case can only hold the main earphones and not the 1m extension provided for those that want more length. I do agree that this extension should only be about 60cm more itself to make the cable size similar to others on the market that are usually 1m or so.

Bin your Apple Ipod earphones for these!, 2008-12-26 Firstly, I'm no audiophile but I know that I like an balance of bass and treble. In the past, I've always been disappointed by earphones as they usually failed to deliver the bass end.
I bought these with confidence as a) I have bought Sennheiser before, and b) have used the earbud style earphones from other manufacturers before. These did not disappoint at all.
They come with 3 bud sizes - I simply had to swap the fitted medium pair for the small from experience and they fit superbly. Whilst I'm not going to use these for running, I'm certain I'd have no problems with them.
I also like the assymetric lead - provided you can remember which is left and which is right, you will never be doubting whether you have inadvertently put the left bud in the right ear and vicki versa.
For the reviewers who post they don't fit, one size doesn't fit all. The manufacturer tries to accommodate all by providing the 3 bud sizes but alas, there will be disappointment for the few. If your's don't fit, drop me an email and I'll take them off for hands for you
In my view, these beat the standard iPod supplied earphones hands down - my experience of those supplied are that they are uncomfortable, have a tendency to fall out, distort easily, poor base reproduction, poor volume and noise leakage both ways. Bin those if you have the same experience as me and swap for the Sennheiser CX300s.

Amazing high-definition headphones, 2008-10-30 I was in the market for comfortable, high-definition headphones for home use. I have owned various brands of headphones within the last 15 years, most recently Sennheiser 205s. I have previously bought headphones between £20-30, but found poor build quality (headphone cables coming loose, headphone drivers failing). My Sennheiser 205s have been very reliable and solidly constructed, despite being in the same price bracket as previous headphones, however I found there to be too much high-frequency bias and poor extended-listening comfort (my ears would touch the felt-backed plastic capping of the speaker drivers) whilst my head was compressed by the clamp-like grip of the headphones.
Before I suffered brain compression or further pain in the ears, I decided to invest in a new pair of buckets with my priorities being in considerable improvement in extended-listening comfort and sound quality (both clarity and range). Various reviews suggested that the 555 model were exceptionally comfortable and had an agreeable tonal quality (a little warm perhaps, but easy to listen to for diverse musical genres). The 555 model are the second model in the five model Sennheiser "audiophile" range. After research, amazon.co.uk were easily the best for price- at around £55 (October 2008) their price was approximately 45% less than the RRP.
The Sennheiser 555s have a 6.25mm jack with 3.5mm adapter on the end (rather than the more "normal" 3.5mm with 6.25mm adapter over the 3.5mm jack)- great if you primarily use a hifi- less so for people wishing to listen to their mp3 player through these headphones (bulky adapter). The headphones have a 3m straight cable fitted (to me, it seems a far thicker cable than that supplied for the 205 model). The headphones themselves have a really comfy velvet-like material over the ear-pads and at the bridge of the headphones. This material is as comfortable as it sounds. Thankfully, the headphone drivers are also positioned further away from the ear-pad (than the 205s), so the drivers don't press against your ears.
The Sennheiser 555s are very responsive to input- I've had to turn down my volume to save me becoming deaf!!
I have a really wide-ranging musical interest- hip-hop, rock, pop, jazz, folk, classical, Brazilian music, soundtracks- and therefore I require a set-up which is warmer and more complimentary to source material than treble or bass biased set-ups (which usually sound great for some music, but lousy for others- for example a base-heavy set-up is great for Jay-Z, but not so much for Mozart). The Sennheiser 555s, for my interests, are great- very clear treble without sounding harsh, deep and powerful punchy bass and detailed midrange. For my previous headphones I had bass and treble maxed on my amp to enhance the sound, however these headphones are so good that you can take off all the enhancements and just enjoy music as it was supposed to be listened as.
These headphones are "open-backed" meaning that there is no casing on the outside of the headphones. This has a brilliant advantage to all my previous (closed-back) headphones- the sound these headphones create is all consuming- a very wide, spacious soundstage is presented. It does not sound like you are listening to headphones, rather you have a quiet room to yourself filled with your favourite music. The open-back design does have disadvantages- the headphones leak sound really badly- therefore all nearby will hear your music choice (which may be embarrassing for some- Village People fans beware!)
In summary, these headphones represent the best £55 I have spent on any aspect of my sound system. The sound is really rich, detailed and gets you clambering to your CD rack to re-listen to your discs. Build quality looks impressive- Sennheisers have a 2 year manufacturer warranty but feel like that they will last for far longer. You can also order replacement ear pads or headphone cables from Sennheiser- which hopefully will prolong this headphone. I hope this review has aided you in deciding what headphones to look for. Happy shopping- happy listening!!

- For DJs ,ideal for both mobile sources and home mi
- Good attenuation of ambient noise
- Earcups can be removed from the headband
- Specially designed damping perforation ensures pow
Excellent value for money, 2008-11-14 I ordered a pair of these headphones Tuesday afternoon and were delivered on Thursday - pretty good service by the seller. The package was also well wrapped and arrived in perfect condition.
The headphones themselves are excellent value for money and ideal for me. I wasn't after anything particularly expensive, but I needed a decent pair of headphones so that I could listen to music whilst working at my computer in my (noisy) lab. These are just the job - the headphones block out a lot of the ambient noise, the bass is clear and the sound generally bright and balanced.
In conclusion, in terms of value for money and quality I'm very happy with this purchase and would happily recommend them to anyone.

Flexible (almost unbreakable) headset, great sound!, 2008-10-02 After one and a half years of daily use I am still enjoying them as day one. I haven't changed the battery yet. I find this product an essential for watching TV and movies on my PC without disturbing the neighbors. I am very selective about my sound products and I consider myself having a good pitch, although I am not a professional sound engineer. Therefore I stand by the quote:"if you like the sound then it's good enough". I have a range of headphones from Sennheiser and AKG and I have not a single complain to make about the sound quality of RS 140.
I have read other reviewers complaining about the "analogue and FM" transmit. Analogue to digital, and back, to analogue conversation are expensive and not always necessary in "real time" situations. Error correction works fine in analogue in this headset, along with sound source "locking". If you need to find a clear frequency there are three available. Unless you are really unlucky there must be at least one clear.
I like this headset as I use it at nights when I fall asleep watching movies. I wake up in the morning finding the headset thrown to the floor or squashed between the wall and the bed. That's a pretty hard resistance test and they are passing it.
Cons:
The only think I dislike is the balance dial, placed next to the volume dial, with the exact same size as the latter. Balance on headphones is meant for people with hearing impairment. From one point of view is good that Sennheiser had considered people with disabilities in this design but on the other it sometimes makes me think that it was targeted explicitly for older people with hearing disabilities and little interest in exceptional sound clarity, which is not true for their sound quality.
Also I tend to forget that initially I found them a bit big, uncomfortable and tight something my friends remind me when they try them at my place. I believe it's something that gets unnoticed after a while.
