Is there anything else you would rather take to bed with you?, 2007-05-07 I am one of the lucky ones who has not struggled with the volume knob issue!
Instead I have got a fantastic radio with wonderful sound clarity and it is easy to use. My only gripe is if you listen to it at night with the light off, the room is filled with an eerie blue light from the display! Hopefully not so bright as to disturb a dozing partner. I managed to find a reconditioned model for about £40- perhaps that is why the volume is OK?

Decent entry level DAB radio, 2005-07-30 I've had mine for about a year. I also have a DAB tuner on my Sony hifi and a Roberts DAB radio alarm clock. Of the three the Elan has the lowest sound quality, least features and the least presets. But having said that, it is a good radio for the kitchen and for travel. I can't comment on battery life as haven't used it with batteries. Overall if you want to try DAB radio for the first time, you won't be dissapointed, this is good value for money.

Perhaps I was lucky?, 2008-12-06 I have had my Legato for about 18 months, bought for a conservatory that gets really hot in summer, so I was only prepared to pay a modest sum. Bought from a local HiFi dealer for about £140 it was described as being 'B grade' quality; I assume that it is one of the many units returned by other reviewers. Curiously, in spite of two summers of 40-plus degree temperatures and a winter where the same room gets close to freezing, the unit still has a full set of functions. It plays CDs and mp3 CDs just fine. The radio is acceptable, though I think that it would benefit from a better arial. I have just two gripes: when left on standby for a long time it makes a faint buzzing noise, so I switch it off at the wall when not in use, and also it is at best medium-fidelity. For anyone disappointed in the sound quality, please realise that a real hi-fi will set you back £1500 or more - don't expect miracles for less than that. I wait in trepidation for bits of the unit to start failing! Maybe I'll stay lucky.

The Best DAB Stereo Just Got Even Better, 2007-02-07 I've owned this unit for about 3 months and could not be more pleased with it. The design and construction are first class and the DAB reception and sound quality are superb. I thought it had all the features I could possibly need, with replay/rewind of live programs, recording to SD card, and MP3 CD playback ... but then yesterday PURE emailed me to say there is a software upgrade available. I downloaded the software and plugged in the USB connection to my laptop - and the upgrade function operated flawlessly. And now my Pure has an electronic program guide (EPG), timer recording, and Intellitext too! All free of charge from Pure. Ownership doesn't get any better than this ... I'd give it 6 stars if I could!

Love the Rock, 2007-08-08 This is the Pure Evoke 1 so remember no stereo unless you buy the additional speaker. I play mine through my hi-fi system the required outputs are on the back. The Evoke 1 is a excellent radio and now it has the great looks to go with the sound. Black and gold with the famous Marshall logo on the front and the display is red. Planet Rock occupies number 1 preset button which suits me just fine, it cannot be changed. If you are into rock then get this one and if you remember Spinal Tap then yes the Volume control really does go to 11.

    Teeny Weeny Hi-Fi!!, 2008-10-20 This is a great hi-fi.
Good value for money
Great clear sounds
and my ipod also works via the aux or the line-in (you cant fast forward tracks or anything using remote but good to select an album or leave on shuffle).
would recommend to anyone after a compact hifi (the front panel of the stereo is just a little larger than a cd case and the speakers are the same size)
