Good Sound, Good Looking & great for the environment!, 2008-07-19

Luckily I bought this product before I read the reviews on this site. I have not had any of the reported problems with it that I have read on here. I can hardly believe that I am reviewing the same product!!!

I love the look of this product it looks great on my bedside cabinet. It is really easy to read the time and set the alarm which was my main complaint of my former ipod system. The alarm has some great features. You can set it to go off daily, weekends only or just once. You can set up to four alarms and also choose whether you would like to wake up to radio, ipod or alarm.

I have no complaints about the sound. It is very easy to use. My only critism would be that it does not pick up as many dab stations as I would like. Saying that however, I would say that that is more to do with the area I live in rather than the system itself.

The fact that it is environmentally friendly adds to its appeal. I highly recommend this product.

I dont understand why people are complaining about not seeing the display properly! I can see it perfectly in compllete darkness-think they must need the opticians!

Outstanding piece of kit and well worth the price (and more) the intellitext is particularly useful on it.

I have already got one of these radios and my wife decided she would like to replace her old analogue radio. So I bought another of these radios for her for Xmas. There is nothing worse than two radios going off at once when one is analoge and one is digital. It sounds like an old school PA system. I think the Pure Chronos II is the 'bees knees', it does everything it is asked to do (admittedly I rarely listen to anything other than Classic FM). It is simple to use and set, has 4 alarm settings, ideal for me as I have differing times when I need to wake up on particular days/weekend etc. It does the job.

another Superb Pure DAB Radio, 2008-10-03
I am a DAB Radio fan and the house is full of Radio's - old Robert's Models , a Bose Wave CD/Radio and MANY Pure models including a ONE , Evoke1 Evoke2xt and a Tempus.

I could not resist added this to my collection and am well pleased - this addition to The One franchise now has 2 speakers with both bass and treble adjustment - it's got a really sleek appearance and 'feel'- my wife reckons it's damned Sexy - it's a smooth matt appearance to the end and a soft cashmere like feel to it's material - she reckon's it's a ladies toy and who am I to disagree :-)

set up as always is so EASY and the Radio uses Autotune to locate all the available DAB channel's in your area - I am familiar with the workings of these radio's now so did not look at the instructions but the whole thing is so intuitive it REALLY is easy to use .

The sound is obviously improved on The One and it's nice and punchy and very clear - for the price this is excellent sound quality indeed - I bought a recharge pack with it and on testing I got 30 hrs of continuous play from a fully charged C6L pack - I recommend this option - does away with the mains lead and ordinary batteries are just so expensive to keep replacing - I have to say just like The One it is a bit fiddly getting the charge-pak in but persevere it does work.

Of course the great addition other than the extra speaker to The Elite is the Revu button with pause and rewind-superb indeed as well as The Intellitext feature for news.

The Elite has a USB connection for future upgrades but far more important to me is the i-pod/mp3 jack making it easy to play my ITouch and iPod through the Elite - I do this with my Evoke2XT as well but of course this radio is far more portable.

Well done PURE - a sexy radio that sounds great !!

I bought the Pure Evoke 2XT DAB radio two years ago, and it's absolutley brilliant. It was brilliant when I first plugged it in and two years on still sounds great. For it's size, the sound is truly amazing, crisp notes with deep bass. Can't fault it. Try it with Chill FM ! Bliss

Very little to be negative about. Good sound, very versatile settings, the radio seems quite sensitive, even with the silly wire aerial and the CD sound is perfectly adequate to all but perfectionists. You can use headphones (proper ones, not those painful plastic things). It does what it says on the box - that's all you can ask. I also like the light-sensing display. I just hope it's reliable - I may change my mind if it breaks!

I've been listening to radio 4 solidly for the last forty years. I was brought up on The Archers, The Men From the Ministry, Just a Minute, My Music and The Today program. I've owned many radios big and small. It took me a long time to be convinced to make the move from 198 longwave to FM but in the end the cricket coverage on LW forced me. I first got a Pure Evoke in 2003, followed by a Pure One. I've always wanted a truly portable DAB radio, I don't like personal radios and the reviews of the personal DAB radios don't inspire me. This little gem is the answer.
The build quality is excellent - the rubberised case feels tough and well made
The weight is perfect - it feels nice in your hand
The joystick button is easy to operate and anybody familiar with the Pure One will be able to operate this radio in seconds
The power button is small and located on the side, you have to hold it in to activate it - this is perfect for a radio that is likely to go in my bag quite often
The sound quality is really good for a radio of this size - I expected it to be much more tinny
Thank-goodness it's kept simple - no alarm function! I use an alarm clock instead which I keep by my bed - I've never felt the need to use a radio as an alarm clock in my whole life
The signal here is excellent - always 100% - so I haven't had any signal trouble and I haven't noticed any difference in performance compared to my other DAB radios
The battery life is excellent, the chargepak is built in and the charger is petite
The sound quality through headphones is also very very good
The stand is robust and well made and supports the radio well. Unlike another reviewer I found it easy to position the aerial vertically when the radio is tilted on its stand - the aerial is just like any normal aerial on a normal radio
If you want a truly portable, re-chargeable, long battery life, DAB radio then get this one - I love it

After alot of umming and ahhing, reading countless reviews, I bought this lovely looking radio for my kitchen to replace my aging Sony FM.

This has great reception on both DAB and FM in my area - and we don't have a particularly strong signal.

Overall, you are buying a radio to listen to. So, if you want a nice looking, crisp sounding and well built radio which picks up radio signals and plays them (!) you cannot go far wrong with this great liile box of tricks!
