An astonishing radio, 2008-10-19 The Pure Evoke Flow is the most amazing radio I've seen or heard. It is a lovely quality, sturdy and very well made, and gorgeous to look at. The tone is lovely, and the radio is surprisingly heavy for its size which adds to the feeling of high quality.
The touch sensitive switches work perfectly though the on-off is slightly fiddly at times. The yellow auto dimming OLED display is a model of clarity. It readily tunes in to internet based stations via my router, and DAB reception is strong and clear. I managed to get the whole thing up and running without even checking the instructions at any point. I am now a regular listener to a Missouri based easylistening station.
Likewise it streams my MP3s hosted on my PC network, though the PC must have EvokeFlow software installed and running at the time. My music is hosted on a network drive attached to the router. I have no problems with wifi reception throughout my home.
I'm totally overjoyed with this radio, and two people who've seen and heard mine are each buying one. The sevice from Amazon was first class and I received the radio and battery within several days.
If you want to open up the world of Internet-based radio stations and have wifi available in your home then this is the one to pick. You won't be disappointed.

Good Sound, Good Looking & great for the environment!, 2008-07-19
Luckily I bought this product before I read the reviews on this site. I have not had any of the reported problems with it that I have read on here. I can hardly believe that I am reviewing the same product!!!
I love the look of this product it looks great on my bedside cabinet. It is really easy to read the time and set the alarm which was my main complaint of my former ipod system. The alarm has some great features. You can set it to go off daily, weekends only or just once. You can set up to four alarms and also choose whether you would like to wake up to radio, ipod or alarm.
I have no complaints about the sound. It is very easy to use. My only critism would be that it does not pick up as many dab stations as I would like. Saying that however, I would say that that is more to do with the area I live in rather than the system itself.
The fact that it is environmentally friendly adds to its appeal. I highly recommend this product.

Really Good Little Alarm Clock, 2008-10-20 I have owned this clock radio for about three or so months now. I bought one for my bedroom. The quality of this product has amazed me, as the price i payed was no-where near as much as I thought I would for the excellence of another Pure item.
The features in this are what you would expect from a much more expensive product. There is a headphone socket as well, which is useful for listening to early morning/late night radio shows! The quality from the built in speaker is also superb, even though it is a mono system, but in truth you would never know. It has good high and low tones and the speaking heard is soft and not to harsh. The FM quality that the Pure picks up is just as good as the selection of DAB stations it finds for me, and the selection keeps growing!
The alarms that the Siesta have are well thought out, and logical to use, they include little picky things like alarm volume, when the alarm should be sounded, eg on a monday, tues etc, or weekdays or weekends only.
I recently tried to plug my Pure into the computer to see if I could get one of the new updates that Pure say are available for these, although when I searched I seemed to already have the latest, which is now quite old. I am sure they will bring out a new one soon.
This has got to be one of the best alarm clock radio's I have ever bought, and definitely the best Pure product. I have recommended this loads of times to friends, and they all seem to find the same as me, quality without the major expense. This is a must to go and look at if you are looking at buying something in this market.

- If you love listening to the radio, then the Evoke 1S is just what you need! This radio designed by Pure plays msuic in digital quality because it has a digital tuner, giving you the same sound quality as that of a CD
- The Evoke 1S comes with a USB port and a rechargeable battery, which has a life span of up to 24 hours, enough to keep you entertained on all those long journeys!
So good I bought another, 2008-06-19 I bought one of these for my mother who lives out in the sticks where FM signal is poor. I knew that DAB signal was good as I have a set in my car which works well. She wasn't disappointed! She uses it mainly for Radio 4 and the sound fills a quite substantial kitchen, the controls are very easy to use - the simplicity for her was the killer app!
So a couple of months later, the backlight failed on my kitchen DAB, (not a Pure) so the ideal replacement.

- DAB Digital and FM with RDS
- Colour: Black
- Mains and battery powered
- Takes 6 C batteries
- Up to 35 hours DAB battery life
A Great Wee Radio, 2008-10-27 This is a lovely wee radio. Lacks the sophistication of bigger more expensive models, but only real downside is it may not be loud enough in some situations - I need the volume up to half way sometimes in the kitchen, but for the price it's excellent and although mono it is stereo through headphones.
It looks and feels great and is fairly intuitive to use, although luddite septagenarian father-in-law has not really got to grips with the controls, computer savvy septagenarian father has no problems.
I bought the battery pack, which whilst fiddly to fit is worthwhile as it makes the radio far more portable.

Excellent product, 2008-01-03 This is the updated version of the Pure battery pack, first available at the start of December 2007. I am using it with a Pure One radio.
It is a package the same size as 6 C type batteries, with a short cable and connector at one end. You plug the connector into a mating connector inside the battery space at the back of the radio, then fit the battery pack into the battery space. This is easy to do. Once fitted, the radio operates with or without mains power being connected. Whenever power is connected, the battery pack charges up and the radio operates from mains power.
The instructions recommend a 24 hour charge initially, which I did though the indicator suggested it was fully charged long before that.
In use I found it lasted for about 20 hours before the radio died. The indicator sits at 4 bars for most of this time then drops off quickly. From the drained state it took about 10 hours to charge again. However, I find it easier to keep the charger at my bedside and plug the radio in each night, so it does not normally fully discharge. This way, it is fully charged by morning and can be used anywhere in the house during the day for as long as needed, without running out of power.

Don't believe the (bad) hype!, 2008-09-08 Having done extensive research about DAB radio and wanting a portable one to take to football matches I went for this radio from Pure. All the bad reviews seem to focus on the poor reception. If you check out before you buy, the areas you live or work etc. you can then make a judgement whether it's worth buying. I did and all areas I use the radio in were listed as "should have reasonable reception" whilst this didn't fill me with confidence I can say that the reception is great in these areas. Sometime you lose signal a bit when travelling but this is when you are going in and out of signal areas. I have never yet had no signal at all.
I would recommend this radio especially for the battery life, a common DAB problem is that it drinks the batteries and therefore it is great to have a rechargeable pack with this radio, it charges in a couple of hours tops and last for 5-6 hours. Expensive at £70 odd but well worth the extra money for the rechargeable pack and the size (it will fit in most pockets no problem).

Planet Rock in the car at last!, 2008-11-06 We bought this six months ago as my husband couldn't face an upcoming long trip without Planet Rock.
In a nutshell, it was quite easy to set up and very clever little gadget.
You tune the gadget into your existing radio, and once you've got it tuned, you give it a preset number so you can find it easily.
Other reviewers mention a reception problem - we've had this on certain roads but have always managed to retune so not a problem. Also, maybe the gadget shares frequency with a couple of local radio stations hence the reception problem sometimes? (just a guess, I'm no expert)
It plugs into the cigarette charger and there's a very bright red bulb that glows - we've stuck something over it as it's too bright at night time!
We only use it for Planet Rock - apparently there are lots of radio stations though :o)
