Fantastic!, 2007-12-16 I bought this TV after 2 weeks of research on HDTV's. I wanted one that would give me crisp, vivid images for a reasonable price. I then stumbled upon this TV in a shop, and decided to put some thought into it.
And I'm so glad I did!
This TV is fanatstic, put simply. It gives a great, crisp HD picture with no blurring whatsoever. I have not been able to notice any motion smearing, and I am quite a perfectionist when it comes to my picture quality. I have it hooked up to my Xbox 360, and it looks fantastic in 720p via component. I haven't tried it with a HDMI connection though as my 360 is a launch model, that doesn't have a port.
The sound is also great, especially considering the speakers it is coming from. Plenty of bass for such small speakers, and even a surround sound effect is available. I will be looking into a better sound setup eventually; although I see no reason to rush as the sound is so great already!
I ahven't had any problems whatsoever, it's really easy to set up, and it looks great too. Highly recommended!

Standard Sky Remote, 2008-01-09 This is the remote that works all the Sky Digital Receivers, it is the black version easy to use, nice clear display, with good size buttons.
This is not the Sky Plus remote you will need a Sky 110 remote for Sky+.

Great phone, 2008-10-31 I have only had this phone for a couple of days and originally found it was not working correctly when running Vista. However a quick visit to the Philips web site and a download of the latest software soon solved the problems. About to purchase a second handset for my daughter and am recommending it to everyone I know.

Philips Lighting Limited
- Set of three decorative, blue plastic candle lights that give a warm, flickering glow
- No open flame means zero fire risk and operation is unaffected by wind
- Wireless recharging
marvellous, 2008-12-31 I have to totally disagree with the previous review. I have just recieved a set of two via the offer amazon and and I am thrilled with them. They arrived just in time for New years eve and look fantastic dotted around the lounge, no worries about getting hot, going out etc. Thye are a more subtle blue than the picture suggests but look exactly like a flickering flame, not enough to read a book by but then they are not intended to.I went for blue to fit in with the colour scheme here and know they will be equally great in the bathroom. Absolutly love them , They don't look cheap either, great quality.

A MUST for all households, 2008-10-16 This is a high quality Philips product. The other review that says this is a CD with brushes on is misguided. This is how you clean the optical lenses on drives. I am a systems administrator and although this may be a CD with brushes on, they are designed to remove dust and other contaminants without scratching the lens.
£3.10 is an amazing price for this item. I just bought it as the DVD writer in my macbook pro was not writing correctly and causing my mastered DVD's to fail. This product has stopped the errors and saved me having to take my laptop to be repaired.
I wouldnt trust an inferior lens cleaner on my drive as a new drive can cost up to £100 and a lower grade product could seriously harm the lenses inside.
BUY IT you wont be sorry!

well designed player let down by screen , 2007-09-25 Great looking player including remote & car adapter. Easily changed to Multi region which was my main reason for choosing this one. Video displayed on external TV is good, but internal screen has difficulty displaying text and subtitle captions clearly, the screen is a disappointment so overall just 3 stars.

- 720 x 480 Resolution
- 2 x Built in Memory Card Readers
- Slideshow/Black & White Modes
- Screen Size: 7"
- Multi-card slot accepts: SDHC, xD card, Memory Stick Pro
"Excellent, if a little small" , 2008-05-20 I wanted a digital photoframe for my parents, but never having owned one was unsure what to look for.
Eventually I decided, mainly based on Amazon reviews, that I wanted one with a good resolution, random play option and a good range of times between transitions.
Some frames have low (c400 x 200) resolutions, others have no random feature and some with a random feature have a very short maximum transition time (only a few minutes).
This little Philips frame fits the bill. It has a viewable area of 720 x 480 resolution, with random play and transition times from 5 seconds to 12 hours.
There are two card slots for a variety of memory cards and you can also connect via a USB cable to a PC or pen drive.
There's 16MB of internal memory, but that's too small to be of much use.
You can set the time and date and also set the unit to switch itself on and off. Useful for ensuring that the unit displays pictures during the day without having to switch it on and off.
There's no internal battery so if you unplug the system you lose the time and date, and also the auto on and off settings. The transition type (sequential or random), transition interval and type (fade, etc) seem to be stored on the memory cards and are not lost on power off.
The unit can be set up for landscape and portrait, but it does crop (rather than stretch or compress) images that do not fit the format. Thus portrait close-ups are cropped top and bottom when displayed on the frame set as landscape.
There's the usual functions to view pictures as thumbnails and to rotate and delete (all or selected) pictures. The thumbnail view shows the date the picture was taken and the native resolution but you cannot view the filename of the picture.
Finally you can adjust brightness and other options such as sound (beep) and background colour (black, white, grey) for when a picture does not quite fill the screen.
So, overall an excellent little device with only a few drawbacks. The screen is a little small with a 6.5" diagonal (and 3:2 aspect ratio) - I wish I'd bought a bigger one. The lack of battery back up is annoying, as is the fact that the manual was written by someone whose first language wasn't human. The manual is also quite partial, not covering all the unit's features. However if you play around with the menus you'll soon get the hang of it.
I could not get all the information I needed (especially random transition times) from the web so I e-mailed Philips. Their customer service is excellent (not a phrase you often hear) and they answered my query fully and within 24 hours. If you need more information, drop them a line.
EDIT
I originally used this with a Fuji 1GB SD card, factory formated as FAT. Everything was fine until I tried to copy more than 250 files, at which an error occurred. Per the web this is a common fault with FAT. I reformatted with NTFS and everything was fine - can put 1000's of images on the card. But the frame will not read NTFS formatted cards.
The only thing that will work for more than 250 images is FAT32. For some reason this is very very slow for file transfer on my (new) Vista laptop. In addition if I remove the card from the laptop and re-insert it, the laptop will not recognise it - need to reboot to see it again.
So a real pain to get more than 250 images onto the card, but happily this is not something I need to do very often.
Philips' customer services were as good as ever and they confirm that the frame will only read FAT32 formatted cards, and only up to 2GB.

Great Value Headphones, 2008-06-16 I bought these as my Sennheiser HD 201's which are closed cup (immersive sound at a budget price) broke whilst overseas. I bought the Philips SHS390's as temporary measure. Needless to say they are lighter than the 201's and allow me to wear them for longer. Good all round sound on a budget AND better bass sound than my more expensive running headphones - Sennheiser PMX70's (luminouse green in ear ones).
