Bought this TV after reading all of the very positive reviews on Amazon. It is quite amazing! I have seen plenty of LCD TVs that my friends own, and this one is so far better is is untrue! I have seen a very expensive Sony 37" TV which did not compare in picture quality to the Panasonic plasma. I was always proud of how well my Sony CRT performed in comparison to all the LCD TVs I had seen, I was worried that any flat screen TV would be as good. This one is easily as good as any CRT. I have a Virgin Media v+ box, and most importantly, it works really well with the standard broadcasts. I have set it up on the HDMI connection and it works brilliantly. On the BBC HD channel it is great and I am amazed at how good this looks, but more importantly, it works really well on the SD broadcasts. HD does look better, but so do the SD channels. I cannot recommend this TV enough! I was recommended an Onkyo upsacalling DVD player, and the output from this on normal DVDs is incredible. Overall, cannot fault it or recommend it enough, it makes LCD TVs look very poor in comparrison!

Having been thinking about buying a new camera to replace my ageing 5mp point-and-shoot for a few months, I was tied between the Lumix TZ5 and this camera. Having played with them on the high street there was absolutely no competition.

I took this camera away with me to Turkey a couple of weeks ago. Knowing very little about photography I kept the camera on automatic most of the time, though the sunset and sports modes are very good, the sunset scene mode really brings out the reds and oranges in sunsets. Using a tripod you can get some really amazing night shots. In the right hands you could get some brilliant shots with this toy, that's not to say that an amateur can't achieve similar results.

I'm very pleased that I invested in a 2gb Sandisk extreme card before leaving. There is a noticeable difference between saving pictures to this card and saving to a standard Sandisk card - sometimes of a few seconds. My 2gb SD card will store just over 400 photos at full resolution, I really should get another.

What really sets this camera apart is the zoom function. 18x optical zoom means that you can happily play paparazzi, getting some brilliant shots from far away with no degredation in quality. The camera allows you to disable the digital zoom completely - meaning that you don't accidentally start taking degraded photos.

The best example of the zoom is some of the photos I took whilst away. Taking a photo from the top of a hill of the view down over the harbour you can see a small black object in the sea. Zooming in on this you can clearly see two people sat in an inflatable boat eating sandwiches! Rest assured that you will really be amazed.

The colours of the pictures are incredible, on a recent trip to Scotland I took numerous photos of landscapes and sunsets, all of which have come out clear and crisp with extremely vibrant colours.

Having looked into the lowepro cases I couldn't find a case that could happily hold the camera without being absolutely massive. Popping into Jessops I found one of their own brand cases that fits the camera snugly, without being a really tight fit. Best of all it only cost me £6.00

All in all I am thrilled with this camera. Having played with numerous cameras over the past few weeks, this fills a niche between simple point-and-shoot cameras and full blown DSLR cameras. Whilst incredibly simple for an amateur to use, I'm sure any professional will be more than at home with some of the more complicated functionality.

I have been using these Panasonic dvd-ram disks for 3 years now,and i have to say they have been so wonderful... I only wish this technology had been around earlier,as i have been collecting things from tv for so many years now...The ram system is so flexible and easy to use, and the need to edit now is so important, thanks to the spiteful way most of the tv companies behave...How anyone can enjoy a programme with the constant, and in my view out and out nasty way they intrude with adverts, and some idiot talking over the credits, about programmes that have nothing in common with the one you have just been watching,is beyond my understanding...Thanks to ram! I couldn't survive without it....

Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5 Exceptionally good picture quality, 2008-10-17
Before buying this television I owned the Samsung LE23R87BDX 23" LCD TV. This TV was very high quality and especially good for gaming, however I wanted something a bit bigger, as I have just moved away from home.

As I was happy with the Samsung I already had, I decided to go for another Samsung LCD. I bought the LE37A556P 37" 1080P TV from Curry's as the price was good and I had read some good reviews of the TV. However it soon became clear to me that although this TV was adequate at displaying high definition video through the the PS3, and was especially good with Blu-Rays, it was lacking in the standard definition department. With Sky it was very blurry and made me wonder if it was faulty. It also suffered greatly with "tearing" when playing certain PS3 games - this is where the screen briefly gets a line through it when turning on the horizontal axis (in games such as 1st peron shooters), as though the screen cannot keep up with the action on the screen.

I decided to return the Samsung to Currys and get a different one. I read reviews on here, and other websites and decided that for the money the Panasonic TX-37LZD80 looked like the best alternative.

Since having this TV I have been blown away by its image quality in both standard definition and high definition formats. Through Sky (using scart) the image is very sharp and vivid. It is a world away from the blurriness that seemed the blight the Samsung. While the Samsung offered acceptable performance with high-definition video, it is out classed by this Panasonic. Blu-Ray videos are displayed crisply and clearly when output from the PS3, and games seem to be smother than on the Samsung.

I never thoroughly tested the sound quality through the 37" Samsung, but a problem that I found on the 23" Samsung I had was that it would reverberate with bassy tones, and was especially annoying when watching movies or music videos with the sound turned up a bit. There is no such problem with the Panasonic however, and the sound is superb for both music and movies. It has a pretty convincing simulated surround sound mode too, although I am planning on buying a system to use with it at some point in the near future.

There are many customisable image options on this television, offering picture optimisation for Movies, etc. as well as other image processing modes - however if you are planning on playing PS3 and X-Box 360 games on it it is probably worth turning much of the processing off; The reason being, that it can cause the image response to slow down a bit.
Relating to the menus, I would comment that they are not quite as user friendly as they could be, although this is me being very picky indeed.

Another small-ish problem I should mention is that for some reason, I found that it would not go above XGA (1024x768) resolution when connected through a VGA lead to my laptop. The consequence is not only that the resolution is quite low for the size of the screen but also that this resolution is designed for 4:3 ratio screens, not 16:9 (widescreen). The result is that the image is stretched. I couldn't find a way to increase the resolution to be any higher than this on either the TV or the computer. I have had no problem using PC screens at higher resolutions than this with the same laptop before, and as the Pansonic screen is capable of displaying 1080P images through HDMI it seems a bit of shame that it can't cope with higher resolutions when connected to a computer. I have just ordered a new Dell XPS laptop with an HDMI output so this will hopefully offer a way around this problem, rather than a solution,

A useful feature worth a mention is that it has an SD card reader, thus allowing you to view photos from your camera on the big screen. In all honesty though, it is a shame that didn't include a card reader for other formats of flash memory such as Sony's memory stick, and also USB drives.

My review may have bcome slightly critical towards the end, however I don't want to dissuade anyone who is considering buying this TV from doing so. I simply want to point out any possible flaws that people might find with it - the issues which I have encountered when using it as a computer monitor, for example, may cause some people more problems than others.

Overall however, the Panasonic TX-37LZD80 is a pleasure to use. For the money that this TV costs you would be hard pushed to get a 100hz 1080P TV. Without going down the 100hz route, I think that this TV would be hard to beat.

Excellent product. very easy to set up, when i got it going was very impressed with the sound. just tried it out on MI3 bridge scene and my room was shaking. have tried action, concert, musical and general dialogue films and it delivers in each genre. i find 35 a perfectly loud level of sound but tried it all the was to 50 and the house was shaking. ipod and cd connection is good but just switch to the music dolby mode for better sound when playing music (which is obviously what they had in mind for that feature). length of wire was more than adequate for me in a good sized room, although i ran mine under the carpet, but can see if you were to run the wires around the room via the side walls it may fall short. also have hooked it up to my 360 via the tv and it is great with that too. was worried dialogue was out of sync at one point but just turned out to be a very old dvd. would thoroughly recommend this unit

Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5 Compact camera with useful zoom and wide angle, 2008-08-18
A good-sized compact camera that is small enough to put in a shirt pocket but has large enough controls to manipulate easily. The camera feels solid and the Zeiss lens seems very sharp, with the 2.5 inch screen being of a reasonable size. The 4x zoom is easy to operate and the quick zoom button is also quite useful. The wide-angle (30mm) capability was the feature that most attracted me to this camera and it works well, both for landscapes and for interior photography. With a capacity of 10 megapixels the camera should be able to cope with most projects and this resolution can be reduced for day-to-day snap taking. Menus are fairly intuitive and are quick and easy to negotiate and there appears to be a good selection of useful modes including face detection etc. The camera use SD cards but also has an internal memory so you can carry on taking pictures when the card is full. The instruction book is fairly comprehensive and, if not exactly well written, it can be followed with care and a bit of re-reading.

I bought the camera because I wanted a small camera I could pop in a pocket rather than lugging my digital SLR around, this camera gives me that option and it is the same resolution as my much bulkier SLR! At this price I think it represents a good compromise between a small, basic point and shoot camera and something a bit more sophisticated, and it has useful zoom and wide-angle functions that can still be used without fuss on automatic.
